Arcade Defender

Recommended Posts

Ok so i thought i would share this quick job of a more Arcade style Defender. No major changes but the landers look more true to the Arcade and are now green color rather then yellow. Some other small things such as the score, baiters, bombers and swams have all had a slight revampArcade Defender.bin

I really don't mean to hijack your thread, but I like your hack & and I did something very similar a couple years ago. I never shared it because I seem to be one of the few people who like (and actually prefer) the original 2600 Defender.

Anyway, here's what I did:

I like what you did with some of the sprites.

Thanks alot for your kind words, i also like what you have done with the sprites. Looks like you spent some time on this one i really like it, im the same i like to change little things to make bad games good and good games better. I know everyone has their own way they think of how they would like the game to look, thats why i like hacks and homebrews

These are awesome! I too prefer the 2600 version of Defender. I love the game in general, but I'm a bit too clumsy to do well at the original arcade cabinet version.  On the other hand, I got quite good at the 2600 version back in the day and it's still one of my all-time favorite games.  I love the look of your hack.

Old but good topic.

I loved the original 2600 Defender. Still do. I play it more than Stargate. I always thought the city was a better idea than a bunch of people wandering out in the desert. Maybe it was easier to create the city than mountains, but it totally matched the box art (people in city being abducted) and just made more sense. This hack shows that Atari could have easily made the landers look more like the arcade. Creatures instead of flying saucers... Anyway, nice work.
