Rob Mitchell
Tank hack for Atari 2600 ? How about a hack for Combat that allows for two lever control of the two opposing tanks? This would requre a splitter for each of the two controller ports for two sticks for each player. Also the hack would benefit if the tanks could reverse direction. Thomas? Thomas Jentzsch
Thomas? If such a splitter exists...
CPUWIZ
Thomas? If such a splitter exists... Yes, they exist but are incredibly hard to find, here is a pic of the one I have ...
Rob Mitchell
If such a splitter exists... I'm making them for Atariage store. Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA
Thomas Jentzsch
I'm making them for Atariage store. Ok, I'll check the game. But it may take some time, I'm currently busy with some other stuff. BTW: I can't find them in the shop. And how is the pin layout?
Rob Mitchell
But it may take some time, I'm currently busy with some other stuff. BTW: I can't find them in the shop. And how is the pin layout? I'm about to mail some sample stuff including two splitters to Al .. 1. They can be either straight through or one side could be for rotating the stick 90 degrees (which is what Glenn Saunders wants for Death Derby). That way you could have one stick giving UD (pins 1&2) signals and another stick sending LR (pins 3&4) signals. 2. Alternatively both sides of the splitter could be wired straight through and the user could add an adapter that rotates the stick 90 degrees. 3. Or the user could permanantly rewire a stick for just Death Derby and Tank. Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA
Thomas Jentzsch
Ok? Reverse direction looks very hard, because the whole game is based on forward motion only. combat_tc__v0.1_.zip
Rob Mitchell
Reverse direction looks very hard, because the whole game is based on forward motion only. Wow! Thanks Thomas! I tried it out on emulation only .. but it works! I like it! Too bad about not getting the reverse motion working .. might you keep trying? For me: Two splitters, two left handed adapters, two pair of suckered joysticks .. and one friend .. and we can play Atari Tank! Rob Mitchell
I remember someone totally disassembled Combat. Might that help? Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA
Rob Mitchell
Want to do the same thing for Combat II (which does support reverse motion)? Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA
Thomas Jentzsch
I remember someone totally disassembled Combat. Might that help? It already did. I used the complete disassembly from Roger Williams which can be found at The Dig! But since the whole code is build for forward motion only, adding reverse motion would require much more than just a simple hack. Want to do the same thing for Combat II (which does support reverse motion)? You guys never stop, don't you? I'll have a look when time permits...
