Hello,

I am thinking of looking for a disk drive to buy

are they "easy" to find and not too expensive?

are they reliable?

A nanopeb with disk interface, memory expansion, etc

does it mean that the disk drive is included or not?

I know there are moderny solutions like Nanopeb CF7+

I have one, but I spend more time, trying to figure out how to use than playing

so not a solution (will probably sell my Nanopeb CF7+)

same questions for TI99 disks are they reliable?

thanks

CF7+ is super easy to use , just need to be used it with Tidir...

For me, nanopeb and nanopeb CF7 are the same : disk drive emulator with flash card

If you really want a real disk drive, you can find a complete system with brand new disk drive for +- 100 $.

personnaly, i still use my first disk drive ( 30 years old ), and still working perfectly ;)

Personally I think you'd be better off learning how to use the CF7 - it's not that difficult. If you're having problems, explain what you're trying to do and people will give you a step-by-step guide as to how to do it.

You'll have problems getting hold of a PEB system (memory, disk controller + drives) in Europe as there aren't many of them around. Plenty of them in the US - but it will cost a small fortune to ship one over because they're so heavy.

.....and have no disks to try

;-)

thanks to a buddy here

I received Ti99 disks and Disk Manager cart

I can list the content of a disk

but when I try to load it

OLD "DSK1.WURM"

then

RUN

I tried in basic and with TI EXT BASIC cart

I always an error message

NAME TOO LONG IN 215

BAD NAME IN 1000

MEMORY FULL IN 456

can someone help me?

what do I have to do?

am I doing something wrong?

thanks

You stated in a previous post that the 32k memory is recognized. How did you test this? Use the Extended Basic cartridge and type SIZE into the command line. If you have a working 32k card it should display:

11840 BYTES OF STACK FREE

24488 BYTES OF PROGRAM

If the 32k card is NOT working it will display:

13928 BYTES FREE

If it recognized by Ext Basic there shouldn't be any reason why it wouldn't be recognized by the E/A cart.

If if isn't recognized by X/B SIZE command, then try all the basic stuff first (cleaning card contacts, making sure you turn on the PEB before the computer, etc). Try switching the 32k card to a different slot. And just to verify, you do just have ONE 32k card installed in the expansion box, correct?

You are going to have to take the console apart and clean the cart port. The felt around it most likely has grease or something on it and the contacts on the cart are being shorted out.

When you get it apart you can see the L shaped cart conector pulls straight up and you can clean it.

Felt is under a plastic holder you can unsnap at the edges and then pull the felt out and throw it away as there is no replacement.

Many other people here might have better suggestions on how to clean it.
