+therealbountybob
Is warping illegal? Only in 14 States looks like we'll have the main table with no warps and some sort of bonus table for those who do warp... I could subtract the fixed warp score and have them in the same table, but I'd need to know each players warp score (It's not a game I'm overly familar with and didn;t have much time the first week to iron out these issues sorry guys )
+therealbountybob
Hmmm.... for Heavy Metal i don't see anything to collect. I just keep warping back and forth 2 the same couple of screens. Metal Health will drive you mad! Try taking a different pad! Also after your go press Option to restart from the last screen reached, that way you can explore more of the 35 rooms

+therealbountybob
3 Jevels - haven't screen Just been playing Heavy Metal, nice game but has a couple of 'kill' screens - checkout the 3d messages - which means you can't restart using Option. I got as far as the other screenshot from the start and was a couple of mm away from the pad before time ran out... still 2 Jewels but once you master the screens I think we can complete this little game folks HM HINTS: Apart from remembering where to go and where NOT to go the best hint I can give is to remember it's time that's important so if you're not going to make the pad go for an easier one and go back through the screens... use the brake and be patient to avoid some of the baddies; with others just go for it, sometimes lure them to your square and cross over them (like in flip and flop). Usually it's the harder pads that are the ones you need to reach to progress CC '88 Lv7 311,851 no warps. Then played the '84 ver (still liking more due to speed on PAL anyway - NTSC players is the '84 ver way too fast?) was doing well with no warps but on level 5 jumped at the top of a screen and was warped to level 7 so 371,295 with warps. Will play again. Managed to get Gently stuck under a platform but luckily he died after a few minutes! Think the '84 ver is much harder. I noticed if you warp on the '88 ver you get 5 lives even though you start on 3... and... the score given for warping varies even to the same level! So no warps for the main table folks

+therealbountybob
@trbb - can we use option? sure the nice thing in Heavy Metal is that Option starts on the last screen you reached - but with 0 Jewels - unfortunately if you get to a 'kill' screen then you've had it! I managed to get a bit further today CC '84 reached level 7 (without warps) 294,674 - the two versions are pretty evenly matched - Scalak if you have time give this version a go and see what you think? 1984 version, i warped once 167,621 You just couldn't resist could you?!!! Was it much faster than the '88 ver on NTSC? (it is on PAL) The preliminary VOTE for Round 11 is open - looks like I know where this is going but I'll leave it open for a couple of days... remember to suggest suitable games you'd like to vote on
+therealbountybob
Page 5 of atarimania's Crystal Castles instructions say there's a 10k bonus for each life you have when completing level 10 (4 castles?) - does the game just end ? In which case there is a maximum possible score so would allow the warp guys to complete for the record books and probably a bonus point Don't suppose we have this? (from Wiki): Crystal Castles contains two notable easter eggs. Jumping 100 times or more in the southeast corner of level 1‒1 and clearing the maze of all gems will make ATARI appear on level 1‒2.On level 5‒4, if the player kills Berthilda and goes to the corner of the area where she was and jumps, "FXL" will appear in the southeast corner of the screen. These are the initials for Franz X. Lanzinger, a designer of Crystal Castles.
roadrunner
The 1984 version seems more difficult. It doesn't take long for the bees to show up and chase me. I played on NTSC 1984 version no warps 69,281

+therealbountybob
Made it to level 8 on the '88 ver: 355,744 Round 11 preliminary poll HERE Found this thread:>>> Off the top of my head (this is from months ago, so please pardon if I miss something...) XE version changes playfield colors like the arcade game, the 16K one doesn't change colors at all. XE version has 'better' PM graphics (less x4 player width) vs. 16K one XE version has properly masked drawing for the hat and bees vs. 16K one XE version has god-awful flashing "invincible" Bently, 16K one is much more like arcade game XE version has attract mode (demo) vs. 16K one XE version is around 30-40% slower than the 16K one (or the arcade game) - not sure if that's a result of the extra graphics masking or just an intentional move to dumb it down. Other thing I noticed this morning is that the XE version has a proper "Ghost" effect when Bently goes inside structures and behind things. The 16K version just shows the same old Bently graphic which makes it hard to tell if you're behind things. Tempest <<<

+therealbountybob
Crystal Castles ('88 no warps) reached level 9 379,358 it gets pretty tough Getting there on Heavy Metal; 5 Jewels - avoided the kill screens but got to a bit where there didn't seem a way out of a couple of linked screens C'mon folks Heavy Metal is a nice game; the 1st Jewel is only on the 3rd screen if you take the correct pad, the 2nd Jewel is fairly near by too but getting 3 or more takes a bit of skill
