Stuart
I've been playing around with an old PC serial mouse and have it connected to my TM990 system, with a simple little sketch program on the TMS9918 VDP using a sprite for the mouse pointer. When I get my hands on a nanoPEB I'll try porting it across the TI-99.

Willsy
How do serial mouse work? Is there a protocol I can read anywhere?

rocky007
i suppose it's the microsoft protocol : ? http://www.kryslix.com/nsfaq/Q.12.html
Stuart
i suppose it's the microsoft protocol : ? It certainly is. I had to wire up an adaptor for the serial port as I think the TM990 is wired up as 'terminal' that was intended to connect to a mainframe. +Vorticon
Nice It would be so neat to have a full graphical DOS for the TI...
+OLD CS1
Nice It would be so neat to have a full graphical DOS for the TI... I reiterate my desire: GEOS for the TI
+Vorticon
If I recall correctly, the Mechatronics mouse came with a very rudimentary graphical DOS program, unfortunately too limited to be of much use...
Stuart
I've got a mouse-driven menu and sketch application running on the 4A now. The PC serial mouse connects directly to the serial port on the nanoPEB. Video link here. There's a code listing here: http://www.avjd51.ds...ng_serial_mouse. Stuart. S1500
If I recall correctly, the Mechatronics mouse came with a very rudimentary graphical DOS program, unfortunately too limited to be of much use... I remember many moons ago(I didn't have a mouse) where in XB it was like a super-crude imitation of Windows 3.1. It ran other programs(which was all too easy) and had this graphical fronend. But way too slow & constrained to be of any use.
Willsy
Video link still not working. Just post the url of the video directly into your post (dont use any of the media buttons or link buttons). The forum software will do the rest. Are you reading the serial port direct? Tursi
I used to have a TI disk with software on it for reading a serial mouse... Genius, I think it was? I don't have it anymore. But it did work directly to the RS232 card. There's a lot of documentation online these days, so yeah, do a web search and wire it up! (If you can still find a serial mouse, though...) RXB
You know the TIM card was supposed to have a mouse interface but he could not get the software to run in the space he had. A 512K Video card would have the space to do this.Did the 9958 include a mouse pointer built in?
+Vorticon
Cool! Now how about a graphical Funnelweb?
Tursi
I didn't notice you had shared the code, Stuart, very nice! Do you mind if others borrow your code for other projects?

Borrow away, as indeed I borrowed bits from other sources ...
