+therealbountybob
trbb can we play in a different order than Malibu,Namco,Atari? [Everyone] NO! This is what makes this round a tough challenge - having to abort a series and start all over again I'm lucky to get to the Atari GP without aborting! Voting OPEN for round 12 triple vote - 3 batches of games go to a vote off at the end of the week; Please vote everyone! I'll update the tables later; handicapping will be adjusted; looks like NTSC will be getting some extra points again as Firestorm's set a new bar on PAL

+therealbountybob
1/2 Lap series: Zillions of goes; zillions of failures... 'Marius Ver.' Pro Challenge eventually managed 5 laps without a crash then crossed the line only to encounter the dreaded timer bug (Will let Marius know!) think I had 98 seconds banked on previous lap so was over 100 Checkout the amusing screenshot:
roadrunner
I was playing a 8 lap PAL Malibu GP race and after the 6th lap the game ended. I had a good race going too. Pole + no crashes.
+therealbountybob
I was playing a 8 lap PAL Malibu GP race and after the 6th lap the game ended. I had a good race going too. Pole + no crashes. The PAL versions bug happens if you have too much time - guess you'll have to slow down a bit! The Marius version is much tougher but looks like it's still possible to get over 99 seconds at the start of a lap (8 bits eh!)... work out how many seconds it gives you each lap (60?) and make sure you have less than 40 left when you cross the line each time (will check this next time I play) Tables UPDATED firestorm/orph hope you are ok with the new rule; I think it's fairish
Mister VCS
2 LAP series PAL (Atari 600 XL) Malibu 37,000 Namco 37,950 Atari 34,500 Total 119,450 The fire-button (brake) is much mure useful in this version than in the Atari 2600 version!

+orpheuswaking
I switched to PAL Datasoft to try and match Firestorms scores game for game, and I can;t get close... WTF are you doing different? I had three perfect runs at top speed and still couldn't crack it.

firestorm
@orpheuswaking Hmm.... maybe 49" per lap is the answer?
+orpheuswaking
@orpheuswaking Hmm.... maybe 49" per lap is the answer? Maybe, But I was having trouble getting that... So for shits and giggles I threw it in the emulator and disabled collisions and just blew around the track as fast as I could and couldn't get the time below 53" per lap... really curious as to what is allowing you to get 49"

+therealbountybob
I've had a 49 second lap or two (Marius Ver) unfortunately I still cannot put 3 x 2Lappers in a row without a crash ARRGH! My Pole Positioning thoughts... the only really tricky bend is the sharp left hander so it's how to slow down: 3 ways; brake; skid; edges or some combination of the three and then there's the position of the enemy (yes I said it) enemy cars to consider. I'm looking for exit speed on the corner... Generally to reduce skidding seems a good idea, so tap tap tap round some corners is my strategy (but not sure if this is doing a great deal). Could even try reducing speed for certain corners before taking them (not tried this yet). Also considered taking a more real-life driving line (wider start) through the corners but not done this much so far. Then there's this overtaking drag malarkey (and the speed boost perhaps) I'm thinking it's best to take a wider path past cars to stop the turbulence slowing your accelleration Scalak you're not allowed to read this... oops should have mentioned that at the start Tables UPDATED
+orpheuswaking
Well yeah, I can get 49 seconds on the Marius version on single lap or double lap rounds I usually brake on the sharp turn and dodge the cars... On longer rounds I usually cut the corner and pass the cars on the grass

+therealbountybob
I did better at the Atari GP 2 Lap race NTSC 38,550 what about the other 2?!!! (reminder three in a row folks - ending on Atari GP!) and jblenkle takes the chequered flag... nearly!!! Small improvement from me on the 2 Lap Series (Marius Ver) Malibu 39,100 Namco 38,700 Atari GP 39,550 Total 117,350 I can't tell you how many goes I've had on this and the Pro Challenge; after my one decent go where I hit the timer bug on perfect 6 laps, I now can't get to 4 or 5 without 3 crashes Anyone got (or know anyone with) an actual Pole Position Arcade Machine ? Better update the tables... still time to get your VOTEs in too

The same score for each race! :-o I'm still not sure if you're following the rules properly(!): players must do all three races, in order (ending on Atari GP), with no restarts; so if you screw up on Namco or Atari GP you have to start the three races again So if the two above were in a row; now you can play the Atari GP to complete the three races - Let me know how you get on!
