Where and when was Starcom for Colecovision sold?

I never could figure out why anyone would release a homebrew in such low numbers...especially when the demand is there! :?

This is the only game that we are doing only 30 copies

This is only for the 30th anniversary of ColecoVision, hence the 30 copies

People can always contact me directly and make an offer .... No needs to enter a bid war ;)

Will you be re-doing the game later as a 'regular' version?

Then that explains the bid war. :P

Seriously, ONLY 30 copies? You may have some left to sell, sure, but collectors are going to be all over this and it's going to go much higher then what we just saw on EBay.

As I said eariler today in another post, this is what happens when things (games, books, music, etc.) are relased in 'special collector's limited edition' versions and people find out about it months and years after. They want it, kick themselves thye didn't get it when it was being sold, and are prepared to pay huge ammounts of money for it.

That's why with anything there should be two versions of it, IMHO -- collectors and regular.

Doesn't happen homebrew games are made in such small numbers, either, but that's a whole another thread.

Good luck on your business model...

I don't understand it..

$500 new homebrews

$30 patches

$30 decks of cards..

personally ... i can't afford it and will have no part of it.

There is no buisness model, only doing this to funds an upcomming project........ A ColecoVision Control Pad, if you ask

Btw, I'm actually losing some money with the patches, right now....

Decks of cards is a coleco_master project .... I'm not involved in this project at all ... Other than I gave him the 30th logo...

While the developer of a game can pretty much market it however he wants -- and rightfully should -- I partially agree with you. I am a ColecoVision fan...but I don't have deep pockets and can't afford something like this. I would like to have every ColecoVision game made, but I simply don't have the money. As such, I feel excluded.

In cases like this, I would advocate the releasing of the rom...either for sale at a reasonable price...or for free...perhaps one or two years after the original cartridge is released.

And is someone who pays $500 for an original homebrew release even going to play it? I would be fearful of damaging my investment. Chances are whoever buys the game is going to dump it anyway...and as a developer, I would rather have control over the rom than it start being circulated behind the scenes.

I really don't understand what this is all about!

Even if the games were $1000 each.... you don't have the money... you don't buy it.

More games at regular price will be release! This is a Special Edition selling for a good cause, raising money for a new project!

I love cars.... but i can't afford to buy a Ferrari

I know you didn't say it was $500...but that's what was paid for it. Do you have any doubts future ones won't hit at or near that level? I admit, I am a bit jealous that you have such a "cash cow" so to speak. I wish I could find stuff to sell for that much.

But I still wish you would consider releasing the rom sometime down the line. If you sell all the cartridges and have no intentions of re-releasing it...what's the harm in releasing the rom a year or two from now? You could pick up more cash from CV fans who can't afford this version of the game.

But, of course, that's your decision. I applaud your efforts to raise money for other projects. I've never really had a lot of money to spend on video games and only have such a massive collection now because I got a lot of them free when I worked for a newspaper from 1989-96 and again 1997-2000.

What kind of claim was filed? does this nullify the sale? I'd be mad too if someone pulled that on me. I'm guessing it would be by a disgruntled bidder who didn't win.

Ok,, Someone apparently filled a claim over ebay ...

Oh no! I'm worried and oh! I'm mad

I don't give a f... !!!

So for now, the ONLY way to get the game is by contacting me

They will most sell for less actually .... $500 was alot actually .... I was surprised myself

You should first check all the bills we have to pay

You will not saying something like ''cash cow''

I'm not allowed to talk about this yet

Pixelboy and I talked about making a CV Control Pad, and trust me, this is going to cost alot to develop

Just for having a mold for the control pad will cost about 6K ... probably more

Its the new model of the world view. Kids play games where no one wins because it could hurt someones feeling. People complain that its not fair that you should sell stuff cheaper because everyone can't afford it.

Don't get me wrong I would be pissed too if I couldn't afford something but that doesn't mean I believe it is not fair and that someone should conform to what price I believe is fair or that they should give something away for free so that I have a chance to have it.

Ah the new world, everyone believes they deserver everything and if they can't have it then they will bitch unless they have some power then they will hurt you for it.

I don't know how to do the fancy answers under the quotes thing...so...

Yeah, I sold a couple of homebrew games I had about two years ago and I was blown away that they fetched over $100 each.

Mooo!

I'm all for a new control pad...while I have grown accustomed to Coleco's controllers, they sometimes are hard to grip and even go flying out of my hand if I get too wild with them. I have an Amiga Powerstick which I really like the control on, but the 2nd fire button is ill-placed. Instead of one on each side of the controller, the second is on top and it's both hard to reach and hard to press when playing.
