Gorfy
Hey, guys! Just found out about this, but I need to get set up with an emulator. What's a good emulator for the 8-bit, and where do you find the game files for it?
LidLikesIntellivision
Hey, guys! Just found out about this, but I need to get set up with an emulator. What's a good emulator for the 8-bit, and where do you find the game files for it? I'm using Atari800 emulator for Linux, I think there's a windows version but this emulator isn't perfect, to say the least... I've found this tutorial in AtariAge for Atari800win plus emulator which I don't know. Maybe others can anwear you better.

LidLikesIntellivision
@Mister, I'm curious about our planned multi-platform HSC. I think you can set things as you want (which platforms, 1/2 weeks, simultaneous version played or alternating platforms etc). But if you want you can also start a thread to discuss with everyone before deciding things.
Deteacher
Altirra is another great Atari 8-bit emulator. I used Atari800Win+ for the longest time, then I switched over to Altirra. http://www.virtualdub.org/altirra.html

roadrunner
new score for the 800 version 36,150 I didn't think i would get past those yellow tanks. My tip, shoot the tanks first shot then jump over it. That thing that sneeks up behind me on the 2nd course killed me 3 times. I tried to jump when it got close but didn't do it in time. Gorfy
Played my first Atari800 game on Altirra! Thanks to trbb for the link to his beginner's guide. Unfortunately, I didn't do so well because I'm not used to gaming on the keyboard. My next step is to figure out how to get my stelladaptor to work with this emulator, if possible. Gorfy
OK, got my stelladaptor groovin' with the emulator via the joystick-to-keyboard software. The jump mechanism seems hypersensitive, though. new 800XE score: 7,

+therealbountybob
Come on trbb, surely you can beat my score at the A8 version. I could but I've not got a 2600! we played (A8) MP last season and it was a hit - really nice game for occasional play. Only small thing that would be good would be if it increased in difficulty if you beat it twice through p.s. Gorfy should bag a bonus point for being the only person (ever) to understand the beginners guide
