2600Lives
Hi. I'm a HUGE fan of retro gaming, but I'm pretty new to emulation. I have a few questions regarding these forums. First, I read the FAQ on posting, and I saw nothing about not being able to ask about good websites for obtaining roms. So, is it ok to ask these kinds of questions? If so, I've been having trouble finding some and would like to ask about places to find roms for specific systems. I used to actually work at a video game store and in that time, I amassed a massive collection of games for all systems. At last cound, my Atari 2600 cartridges numbered 456 and my Super Nintendo cartridges numbered 398. I'm aware about the rules regarding roms, and I actually do follow them. Anyway, I look forward to posting here occasionally. Thanks in advance!
Happy_Dude
At the top of this page the links to the Atari systems have all the roms you could ever want (exept the Jag) And Welcome to Atari Age
2600Lives
Oh, yes, thank you! I've gotten every rom this site has to offer. I'm actually looking for systems like the NES and Super NES roms. I figured folks around here would know where to find such things. I'm also looking for absolutely complete lists of every game made for the Nintendo, Super Nintendo, and Sega Genesis, if such things actually exist. Thanks again. Fretwobbler
While I certainly dont speak for the powers that be here I would imagine you are generally OK asking about systems that are 8 bit or previous, so NES etc will not be frowned upon. Beware though that quite a few software developers use this board (including the admins) so if you go asking for PS2 or Dreamcast ISO's expect to get seriously bashed by the people who's livelyhood you will be destroying. If you want SNES or Genesis, find them yourself as per the aforementioned reasons, it isnt that difficult.
2600Lives
Mucho thanks! I stop cold at the 16 bit level, as I feel that those are the last of the "dead" systems. Heck, I even buy an odd Playstation game now and again (i.e. Blaster Master 2, which I LOVE!). Too bad about the Dreamcast's short life. I loved that system, but the lack of RPG's really did it in in my opinion. PSO was fun for awhile until you realized it was just a glorified scavenger hunt (albeit with GORGEOUS graphics). Anyway, thanks again for the link!
Snider-man
I'm also looking for absolutely complete lists of every game made for the Nintendo, Super Nintendo, and Sega Genesis, if such things actually exist. Let's see, the NES and Super NES lists can be found here. Not sure where you can find a Genesis list off-hand though.... EDIT: Whoops, just noticed a complete Sega Genesis list on there too. It's under "Genesis" and not "Sega" as I assumed. So, there ya go!
Nukey Shay
Not in English, but easy enough to navigate: http://www.planetemu.net/ (Javascript) Mame roms http://www.mame.dk (login to enable downloads) Or use newsgroups or p2p (like Kazaa Lite). 2600Lives
Thanks much for the responses. I'm mainly interested in the Japanese roms (because Japanese cartridges are SO difficult to obtain here in the U.S., and many are downright impossible), even the untranslated ones. BTW, anybody know what happened to TheOldComputer.com? That used to be one of my absolute favorite sites, then I lost my internet connection for a couple of moths. When I came back, no old computer! AAH!
