pboland
***Update on the last 40 copies for those on the waiting list*** I'm running a little behind. I'm making the last 40 copies in two groups of 20. The first group of 20 is just about finished. PM's should go out tomorrow for those on the waiting list that order the first 20 of the last 40 copies. The last group of 20 will not be ready until after the first of the year. I will be spending these last couple weeks of this year printing out the last 20 copies. All product will have the print year of 2013 even though the last 20 will be assembled in 2014. This will keep them all the same. Thanks again to all who made this project such a great success.
nurmix
Hey PBOLAND... Your interview will run in this month's episode of The Intellivisionaries. We just finished recording our main segments last night, and now I have a ton of editing and production work to do! But if all goes according to plan, I should have the episode out in about a week... definitely before Christmas!

pboland
is it safe assumption that if I didn't receive a PM that I'm in the second group of 20?? Yes. The list was set-up based on when I received the PM by those who wanted to be placed on the list. The sooner I got the PM the further up the list the member was placed. I'm sorry, but you are in the second group. I have started getting the last 20 sets together, but they will not be finished until after the first of the year. +pboland
Got my set this past week! Awesome stuff! Just out of curiosity, how do they compare to the other "newer" overlays you have. I thought it might be cool to hear what you thought since we had a chance to sit down and talk about the whole process. BTW, Awesome podcast so far. I'm about 2 hours into it. +DZ-Jay
I haven't received mine yet, but I am very excited, especially after hearing the podcast interview. I am soooooooooooo glad I bought into this--and I don't even have a single Sears game!

cmart604
Hahaha.. Rick knows I'm just yanking his chain. He just happened to be the one who did both interviews for episode 4, so people may start to think it's the Rick Reynolds Intellivision Show! What's funny is EP4 is the first one I've listened to and the thought crossed my mind that I didn't realize Rick did all the talking. Joking aside, I felt you did a really good job on both interviews Rick. It was really cool to hear how clearly passionate both Phil and James are about what they've done for our favourite little greatest console ever. I'll definitely go back and listen to the first three EPs over the holidays as I finally have some down time. It'll be great to listen to them as I unpack 100+ boxes of retro goodness in my underground lair.
Rick Reynolds
Thanks for the kind words, cmart! The not-so-inside joke is that I talk WAY too much in the podcast. it's a reflection of my passion for this stuff, I guess. I'm really trying to leave more openings for Nurmix and Burgertime, but so far not a lot of success there. I was a high-school teacher in a former career, so I like having the floor and talking about things I've prepared, etc. And yes, Nurmix likes to yank my chain! I can only say that it is all well-deserved!
Rick Reynolds
Just out of curiosity, how do they compare to the other "newer" overlays you have. I thought it might be cool to hear what you thought since we had a chance to sit down and talk about the whole process. BTW, Awesome podcast so far. I'm about 2 hours into it. So a quick overlay comparison, since pboland asked. I pulled out a few different overlays from various projects over the years: Fathom (Imagic 1983) Happy Trails (Activision 1983) Frog Bog (Mattel 1982) 4-Tris (IntelligentVision 2005) Robot Rubble (shows as Activision, but was produced by IntelligentVision I believe ?? 2005) 4-Tris (Left Turn Only 2008) Donkey Kong (IntelligentVision 2011) Christmas Carol (Left Turn Only 2012) Choplifter (IntelligentVision 2012) Hover Bovver half-cut edition (Elektronite 2013) Stonix (IntelligentVision 2004) Super Chef BT (IntelligentVision 2013) I also pulled out my Orphan Overlays set from some-early-year (they weren't being shipped with boxes at the time so I don't have the nice yellow box, mine is set #34) It's a bit difficult to talk about them because I'm not in the printing business at all and I don't think I know the right terms. Some have a glossy/shiny finish others are more flat/paper looking. Some are thicker than others and feel like a different material. Some have a more opaque background, some have what I'd call a semi-opaque background and others are more or less colored transparency - i.e. no background attempted and you can see light through them kinda like stained glass. Some have a very smooth surface while others have some slight roughness. All of them are very high quality, IMO. So when I compare one against another, we're already in the A-grade classification. In the comparison I'm trying to compare the various qualities. I'm not really trying to say one type of overlay is better or more professional than another. MANY of these are very similar. I can't tell much of a difference between many. I'm going to classify the basic types first, then map them to the games. Classic Mattel - smooth surface, very plastic feeling, shiny coloring finish, average thickness, mostly-opaque white background. Imagic - slightly rough, feels kinda papery, flat coloring finish, average thickness, opaque white background. Late IntelligentVision - smooth surface, feels more papery than plastic, ranges in thickness, opaque white background. Early LTO - very slightly roughened surface, feels almost rubbery, pretty thick, no opacity applied to the background. (forgive the "early" and "late" descriptors if I'm actually wrong about that - I just need a descriptive name) So a comparison: Fathom - Imagic style Happy Trails - Very similar to Classic Mattel Frog Bog - Classic Mattel 4-Tris (IV) - Very similar to Classic Mattel, just a touch more rigid Robot Rubble - Very similar to Classic Mattel, just a touch more rigid 4-Tris (LTO) - Early LTO style. These are the thickest of the bunch I pulled out for this comparison. Donkey Kong - Late IntelligentVision style, feels a bit heavier/rigid than most Christmas Carol - Very similar to Classic Mattel, just a touch more rigid Choplifter - Late IntelligentVision style Hover Bovver half-cut edition - Much like Classic Mattel, but a bit heavier/rigid Stonix - Much like Classic Mattel, but thinner/flimsier Super Chef BT - Late IntelligentVision style, but thinner/flimsier. These are the thinnest of the bunch I pulled out for this comparison. Orphan overlays - Very similar to Classic Mattel, a bit thinner (SCBT just barely beats it out for thinnest) Sears overlays - Have a more rubbery feel than the others (some similarity to Early LTO, but not as thick), very light application of white opacity to the back - you can see lights through them to a degree. Disclaimer!!! These are the ones I have in hand and bothered to compare. I'm not really trying to make quality judgements about an entire run of overlays put out by IntelligentVision, Elektronite, or LTO. And when I'm comparing thickness, I'm not using a guage or anything - just my subjective feel. It's kind of fun to have all these laid out on the table...
