snakeboy
So, I got a Harmony cart for Christmas, but for some reason whenever I try to copy games to the SD card, I get the message "The disk is write-protected. Remove the write-protection or use another disk." I tried a google search to find out how to remove the write-protection but nothing helped. I have tried to copy games to the SD card provided with the cart and other cards as well. Any help would be appreciated.
OldSchoolRetroGamer
SD cards have a little write protect tab on the top left side of the card, whatever position it is in slide it to the opposite........... snakeboy
I forgot to mention that I've already tried sliding the tab.
OldSchoolRetroGamer
Well that is odd. I once had a problem like that with a SD card where the tab was loose, though fully in the unlocked position as I inserted into the tight card reader the tab would slide just enough to be in the locked position, are you sure nothing like that is occurring? If not I am out.............
snakeboy
Well, problem solved. I tried copying the games on a different laptop and it worked. I don't know why it didn't work on mine, which is kind of annoying, but I got them copied so I'm happy. Thanks for trying to help, anyway.
Thomas Jentzsch
Probably some unusual, general setting in your OS (which one are you using?).

Thomas Jentzsch
In the registry, check the following key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies\WriteProtect. If it is set to 1, this is causing your problem. Change to 0.
