+therealbountybob Posted January 1, 2013 Share Posted January 1, 2013 For the final round of season 9 we have THE GREAT AMERICAN CROSS COUNTRY ROAD RACE We'll play Los Angeles to New York as the main game and the U.S. Tour as a bonus as it takes so long to play (I think you have to go to all the cities?) The key to a good time is to be steady and go fast when the conditions are good and the road is clear. Controls: Hold fire to accelerate, pull back to break. Change gears by releasing the accelerator and then tap Up/Down. To get gas pull over when you see the pump, don't go too fast or you'll miss it! If you blow the tank or run out of fuel you will need to push to pump by tapping fire! Load/Save: Play the disk version which saves your best times - If you use one of the emulators set the disk as Read/Write. If, like me, you have a disk with previous times saved load in an 'opposing field from disk' by pressing Select (F3). Looking foward to seeing your driving names; hope I'm not overtaken by "Gremlin Greg" Main Game: L.A. to New York - take the default options you may set the starting time of day using Option (F4). Standard HSC Scoring (12pts 1st etc) Bonus: U.S. Tour - you may set the starting time of day using Option (F4). Press Start (F3) when prompted then use joystick to choose your route on the map; press fire to race. Scoring based on the default table (below) 10th=3pts, up to 2nd=11pts, 1st 12pts Download: atarionline.pl v1 ATR looks good and has default scores, atarimania has ATR's of activision's US ver & UK ver. +therealbountybob Posted January 3, 2013 Author Share Posted January 3, 2013 Welcome jk40001 and Nuy from the last round Hopefully we'll have a few new (and old) players for Season 10 of the HSC; I'll start the advertising soon L.A. to NYC forgot what to do at the start and sat there crunching gears like an idiot CHECK forgot what speed to slow down to to avoid being pulled over by the cops CHECK ran out of fuel CHECK out-ran the cops at top speed CHECK didn't get lost CHECK So I used to be 'Jet Along Jason' but saw BIG KNOB BOB on one of my scoreboards so I commandeered it 21:48 128MPH justin case = Gremlin Greg TACI??? there are quite a few variants kicking around on my disk. Anyone else got any from way back when? I finally ran out of time. I guess i have to race all the way back to where i started the race? It took awhile to figure out how to select the US tour also. For Gas slow down 60mph~ as soon as you see the message and get over to the edge of the road. I just made it to the end before the time ran out on that segment. The part with the water puddles wasn't as hard as i first thought it would be. I found a shorter one (10942 miles) but it was not good Steering Tests, Condemned roads... 87:37 Im not sure what the segment times mean - perhaps to get 1st place?
