+therealbountybob
I am terrible at this game, I'm not even going to post my lameass score C'mon post them with a suitable name - or I'll make one up for you like McKong's Take it steady when it's busy - never run out of fuel so drop to 62 as soon as you see the 'fuel on l/r' message - always outrun the cops - use the verges and the BRAKES (something I find hard to do in driving games!) - I nearly always crash when I glance down for a nano-second at the dials so think about fuel before you start each stage... +therealbountybob
Well, at least you have a score...I keep getting disqualified... I didn't know you could get disqualified - drink driving perhaps If you're playing under emulation try the game on PAL video setting to see if it's any easier... do you guys just keep crashing too much or are you just going too steady or perhaps running out of fuel or missing the fuel stops??? [obviously do the LA-NYC to learn the game before attempting the US tour] Probably not the best time to mention I've just managed an 18:10 LA-NY.. the game seems fairly steady once you've mastered the fuel stops (@ 1/4 tank to be safe) and not going too fast when it's busy - let me know where you get stuck if you want some more help... I'll put you each down for a point for playing - perhaps post the stage you got to for comparison... p.s. all of my scores are using the default time of day. jblenkle
Apparently if you don't reach your final destination without running out of time you are disqualified. At first I couldn't even make it to the first stop and it told me I was DQ'd. I thought maybe if I finally made it past that I would get some type of score...and I did at the end of each level. I think I made it to the fourth stop and then ran out of time and it told me I was DQ'd again. Finally looked up the manual and it says, The race can end in one of three ways: 1. Disqualification. This occurs as soon as you run out of time at any point in the race. 2. Finish, but not in top ten. You may finish the race but not rank high enough to be placed with the top ten contenders in your field. In that case, you will still be congratulated on screen, and your rank will be displayed above the top ten. You can see how close (or far) you were from a place on the board. 3. Finish in the top ten. You've earned a place in the rankings determined by the computer. Look for the flashing square and type your name and the date in the space provided. To save your outstanding performance, select Save Game from the File menu. This was from the C64 version, but I figured it was the same for the Atari version. jk40001
18:14 - I m getting better too . A good passage of the second part seems to be most critical. I was lucky this time and somehow avoided couple of certain crash situations. Sadly, I crashed in last seconds of the race, just before entering New York
