+therealbountybob
A few scores whilst visiting bob: Asteroids: 14710 Sea Quest: 41200 Callista: 12145 Har'Em: 17700 Hop: 707m No Screenshots but I'm sure Bob will vouch for my honesty Nice to see you matey I will especially as you confessed to using the emulator for some Qix shennanegins - so that score will be scrubbed from the record books (wondered how come you were beating me at one of my favourite games) now I'm assuming orpheus grafted for his 9x multiplier the hard way?! If not let me know... I'll need to adjust the points for that round too. had a go on that Grob Grobaa game that McKong played - something strange (I didn't say they were all good!!) you have to bounce grim stuff up to the the top! Also played more Midnight Magic: Also HAR'em 42,600 got to the 4th stage

adam242
Haven't been able to improve my Seaquest or Asteroids scores (grr) but checked out a few others: 1715 at Plan B. I like this one, got a 'Starquake' feel to it. I'd like it a lot more if the status/score area fit on my NTSC screen! 372, level 1 on Line Runner. Beautiful, elegant graphics but very nerve-wracking for me. Level 15 on Mazezam. This is my kind of game. This was the first time I played it on my 800 (instead of XL) and was blown away to realize that the music and sound FX come from the console speaker! Way cool! And a bit better on Callisto.. 16500. One of the best-looking shooters for the A8, I think. Edited April 27, 2013 by adam242

+therealbountybob
OK as we seem to be having some signs of life in this round it and the VOTE now close Mon 10am UK time Tables updated 1715 at Plan B. I like this one, got a 'Starquake' feel to it. I'd like it a lot more if the status/score area fit on my NTSC screen! ... Level 15 on Mazezam. This is my kind of game. This was the first time I played it on my 800 (instead of XL) and was blown away to realize that the music and sound FX come from the console speaker! Way cool! Yes Plan B is Starquakeish I think I'll send fandal an email and see if he will improve the game - take out the shooting of the power-ups for example - if you post any other comments I'll feed them back to him too. Mazezam, that's neat next time I did the 800 out will have another play on this. Hopp, no clue what i'm doing. Very, very short game. It's simple! hold fire to raise 2012 (yes that's you) let go to let gravity bring you down, avoid crashing into anything SeaQuest: 201,350 Stellar Caverns: 775 Snakes on Atari Island: 1,350 score after time penalty: 1,100 Why the hell is there a time penalty??? it's a shame but Snakes of Atari Island seems to be flawed - too easy, 2 player only 1 life and the scoring but otherwise the game looks good and the controls are excellent - hope we will see an improved version Stellar Caverns was one of the 4K atari BASIC games so that's a game written in 4096 characters folks Good score for Seaquest too

I'm totally with you... this is a decent game, could be a very good one. I want to like Plan B more than I do. I agree that shooting the power-ups is way too easy and very annoying. I might take out the 'spacebar to open a door' bit and maybe simply lean into it to open. I hate having to take a hand off the joystick, especially when there are a dozen or more things flying at me... it is easy to get stuck somewhere with enemies above and/or below you, where you can't shoot them. And last, it'd be nice if the screen were less tall to fit NTSC monitors. The score and status displays are completely cut off for me: EDIT: It occurred to me I could just tweak the vertical size and position pots on my 1702. This required removing the rear case, but still probably a lot easier for me to do that than for anyone else to modify code! Results are happy: And this is a 'global' fix... other games with formerly invisible scores (Sir Pac-Man, for one) are now playable. +therealbountybob
Well it's about time I pulled my finger out and won a round so I only went an won two at once Asteroids remains an excellent game, initially I wasn't so sure but you need a few sessions to get going - try playing with a little forward momentum and firing steadily when you have targets lined up; take out most of the fragments before moving onto the next rock. Seaquest was also nice to play but seems too eager to dish out extra men, like the way you can just about dodge between the rows of baddies. Midnight Magic is a grower too so be sure to check that out. I've emailed fandal with some feedback for Plan B so let's hope he will improve his game too Lots of scores and points below so please check I have everything. adam242
Final Tables ..... ..... That is a ton of bookkeeping this round, Mr. Bob.. thank you for all the time you must put into this! I'm not sure I should be getting the NTSC bonus points... my machine (at least the one I've been using) is a bastardized NTSC 800 with a PAL ANTIC for software graphics compatibility. Pretty sure it affects timing issues, too.
