cncfreak
Well i finally got Verizon Fios so I'm now able to get my BBS back up and running. My previous internet provider had all the ports locked down and wouldn't open anything up for me so i decided to switch. I'm running Synchronet on an XP machine. I really don't have much files or messages as this will mostly be for playing games. I currently have over 300 different doors up and running. Also i did custom menus based on some of my most favorite classic computer rpgs. They aren't anything special but i always liked when people put a little effort into there bbses and made them look different than the standard screens. I would suggest downloading Sync-term to use as your telnet program. http://syncterm.bbsdev.net/ I called it Door Games Unlimited and here's the url for it. dgu.dyndns.org Thanks Cncfreak

number six
BBSing is the best. My board has been up over 20 years now, of course we switched to Telnet in '00 and then to a web based format in '03. The internet is great and all but sometimes I do miss that sense of community that was somewhat lost when everything moved to a national or global even..scale. CNC - Did you run a dial up BBS in the area back in the day?

cncfreak
My BBS has been up for almost a month now and i've been averaging 4-5 calls a day. Not too bad for a start-up Telnet BBS. I thought I'd post a few pics of some of my screens. Edited June 3, 2013 by cncfreak
SoulBlazer
Wow, that really looks awsome! I recall using BBS's dial-up in the day. However, I haven't done anything like that for years. I'd like to check out, could you help a newbie out with instructions on how one can go to it and use it on a modern PC with no modem? cncfreak
Sure, the first post has one of the better term programs. Download it for the OS you use. If you have Windows just click on win32. Unzip program into a directory and i would store it somewhere on your hard drive and create shortcut for Syncterm.exe. Once you launch it, hit the Insert key to add a new BBS. Enter the name such as Door Games Unlimited. Choose either Telnet, Rlogin or SSH ( i would suggest Telnet) For Address enter: dgu.dyndns.org Then hit enter on the entry you created to connect. Once you see logon screen, just type NEW and enter the information that comes up and your in. at the main menu hit X to list all the door games i have installed (currently 321 doors installed).
