OldSchoolRetroGamer
15 NEO GEO roms for $80? Wow what a bargain........ Well I would be interested to see how well the upgrade fixes the issues / performance. This will never be for me though. goldenegg
That's ridiculously expensive. SNK released the 'SNK Arcade Classics Collection' for PS2 and PSP, containing 16 games for half the price. This collection should not be more than that.
Blazing Lazers
$80 is worth it just to have a physical copy of Blazing Star. The other games are just gravy after the excellence of Blazing Star.
Austin
Yeah, it's great to see Blazing Star getting a release. I think I will pass until opinions are given on this though. The original package itself kind of sucks. I want to know exactly WHAT has been fixed before I shell out another $80 for a bunch of ROMs (I don't need a charger now, because my smartphone cable works fine). xDragonWarrior
Preordered. Will be awaiting my punch in the face. For that you should punch yourself in the face .Nostalgia must have been knocking hard for you to pay that much, especially knowing that you can play them on Mame or such. But anyway,i'm just a(obviously jealous) 16 year old boy who wishes he could spend that much on a game and not think of how many other game she could have gotten with that money. Taskmaster99
Im just a Neo Geo junkie. With both a Japanese and American AES, 2 consolized MVS units, CDZ and Pocket color.....had to buy the X handheld. And then of course needed more games for it. Im good with the purchase......even better considering I used a gift card left over from my birthday.....so its kinda like it was free. Makes it a little better.
DaytonaUSA
I'm a big Neo Geo fan, but the X is completely worthless. I'm not sitting here saying you can't play the games unless they're the original carts, but the damned thing doesn't even emulate things properly. If you play with composite on a CRT TV, every still screen (read: when there is no action on screen) flickers and bugs out. HDMI doesn't have this problem, but then the image looks oddly bad. Couple with the fact you have no difficulty settings and coin input mechanism, and the thing is pretty dang annoying to say the least. For the amount of money the thing costs you can get a 2 slot MVS and consolize it.
rhindlethereddragon
Gentlemen, I have a question about the NEO GEO X games: I have viewed many games on YouTube, and it seems they all give you just 4 credits. Is there a way to increase your credits on the games for unlimited play?

rhindlethereddragon
The system update is supposed to fix alot of bugs.....we'll see. Do you think the "update" might include BIOS so that you can add credits. Was thinking about this last night: why are people saying that there were only 4 credits on the AES system Neo Geo games, when I remember adding unlimited credits (it's been a while since I played with the AES). Then, I remembered: I have a MODDED system with BIOS!!

Maybe the "and more" will include adding more credits.
Reaperman
Those 16-ish games in the packs they have been putting out over and over again for those old compilations have largely been crap. This is actually a pretty good lineup. Blazing Star and Mark of the Wolves are especially nice to see. However, none of those games are $80 titles on the MVS side of the house, and software emulation is still the worst way to experience Neo Geo. Especially bad software emulation...on a certain system with an 'x' on it. The one with a screen that doesn't even have the right aspect ratio. I haven't heard anything so don't think the update does, but unibios can be hacked in by users, and has cheats for unlimited credits in AES mode--I can't think why that wouldn't work unless the software emulation core isn't good enough to handle unibios properly. MVS bios might be another option depending on how their system is handling things. Oh please let them include Unibios on a retail product without permission. I like reading a good drama from time to time. Edited May 28, 2013 by Reaperman
number six
This makes absolutely no sense. Like others have pointed out, previous Neo Geo compilations had 16 games. Hell I have the SNK Classics Vol. 1 for PS2 and I'm pretty sure it was $5 at TRU. That was discounted but I seriously doubt it retailed for much than $20 since it was a budget title. Once again I don't understand the greedy pricing. If these games came in 3 packs for $5 I might have actually said 'OK why not' and bought the odd one. But at these prices I'll buy nothing. I assume they are banking on the 'hard core' Neo Geo people to fork over the crazy money.. but as we've seen the Hard Core Neo Geo people hate this thing for various reasons. That leaves the casual people who picked it up for funsies (or like me) for half off from cowboom. Obviously if i'm only going to pay $100 for the whole shebang I'm not going to pay $80 or $90 for a handful of additional games. Madness I tell you!
Taskmaster99
I myself have the madness!! I am one hardcore Neo fan who doesnt hate this thing. Stark raving mad!!!! hahahahahhaa
+save2600
I don't care for these particular "greatest hits" packs at all. In fact, only like maybe half of what's included on the handheld. Odd and redundant selection of games IMO. I want to really like the latest Neo*Geo incarnation, but am having a difficult time. Very much like the new USB controller though! Built well and has that original authentic feel to be sure.
