+Cafeman
So Cafeman Jr (now 22 yrs old incidentally) is going to help me install a new 256GB SSD , load dual Linux and Windows 10 OS, and get my old drive's files copied onto the new SSD. We are doing it this Sunday. So Monday night I should be able to get back to Adventure II XE. I'd left it alone for the past two months, I just felt burned out, but I've regained my motivation to code and test again! Mostly all I have left is to finalize my sound engine rewrite, and tweak the "Dark Gameplay" option some more, but I do need to retest the whole game thoroughly again to make sure I didn't break anything.
leech
Is it weird of me to say I am more excited for the release of this over Skyrim VR for PC being released on the third of April?

+Cafeman
I have my laptop working in Windows10 with my SSD. Not much to report on the programming front today, so here's another sampler of David's art. Edit -- took it down. Sorry if you missed it!

+wood_jl
So glad you're still on this project! I don't care how long it takes! You're going to put youth in a cartridge (or whatever format), which will be priceless.
Atari Nut
I'm glad you're back on this project. I was just going to ask if you were still planning on doing this. Somehow I missed the past few posts. Really looking forward to this. Thanks.
TIX
Hello, long time reader of the site, I just signed in after years, to give my thanks to cafeman on a dream come true I always imagined the square to be a fat little knight.. I haven't saw in the alternate icons something like that, sooo how about a couple rectangle monochrome little knights ?? leech
I was actually trying to look around for the flashback that has the 5200 version of this so I could give that a try, but I don't think it is out yet?
Atari Nut
Which Flashback is going to have 5200 games?
leech
Which Flashback is going to have 5200 games? Atari Flashback 8 Gold. (at least it lists Adventure II as one of the games, and that never made it to the 2600 right?) https://www.atgames.us/products/atari-flashback-8-gold
Atari Nut
That's the 2600 version by Curt Vendel. It made it's debut on the Flashback 2. Here's a video...
leech
Ah, cool! The other one I read about was the Atari Flashback classics Vol. 3 for the xbox? I have been waiting for this XE version...
Atari Nut
Vol. 3 will be the same 2600 version. It was left off of Vol. 1 and Vol. 2. Edited August 22, 2018 by Atari Nut
leech
Ah, so literally if I want Adventure II without it being the 2600 version, I have to buy a 5200 or wait for the XE version? . Good to know.
+Cafeman
EDIT for hindsight accuracy: I'll give an update soon on the XE version.

+Cafeman
Hello, ...I always imagined the square to be a fat little knight.. I haven't saw in the alternate icons something like that, sooo how about a couple rectangle monochrome little knights ?? knights.JPG Those are very cool icons. However, I don't want to add more icons to the game at this point, and I already have Blue Knight and Knight Helmet as the Knights icons. They are more durable than other icons can take more bites before being devoured, and sometime a dragon hurts itself biting their armor and runs away. More info here, although a bit outdated now... http://atariage.com/forums/blog/618/entry-13636-advii-xe-and-the-icons-of-adventure/ http://atariage.com/forums/blog/618/entry-12309-advii-xe-and-alt-icons/
TopGunBBS86
Bump! I have lots of money set aside, waiting to buy this. We'd all still love to see it.
tjlazer
Is there a reason that Glenn the 5200 man couldn’t of hacked this for the 8-bits years ago?
Goochman
Is there a reason that Glenn the 5200 man couldn’t of hacked this for the 8-bits years ago? Cafeman has made a number of improvements to the XE version, so the 5200 one wont cut it
tep392
Is there a reason that Glenn the 5200 man couldn’t of hacked this for the 8-bits years ago? The start of this project was actually a direct conversion from the 5200 version that I offered to do for Cafeman. But that was just the first step since he wanted to do some updates to make it different from the 5200 version.
Atari Nut
Still hoping to hear more news on this.
leech
I've ordered the 5200 version from AtariAge and ordered a 5200 off eBay (neither of which have arrived yet, but waiting...) With the way my life usually works, that means the XE version will come out right afterward... (hint hint).
