RevEng
It might be funny if the door closes behind the first player, forcing the remaining player to use a different exit. Maybe the door behaviour can be an option? It also makes me wonder which player Otto will follow if they split up. Maybe he'll target the closest one, but shooting him will cause him to target the other player?
PacManPlus
That's funny - that is exactly what I was coming here to type. - Door will close behind the first player to leave (so the second player can't use the same exit). - Room will 'scroll' with the second player leaving, and follow the adjacent room of the second player (yes, they aren't random - that was the main issue here) - Players will be put in their respective positions Example: If player one exits to the right, and player two exits at the top afterward, the screen will scroll down, and the game will use the room above player two. Player one will appear on the left, and player two will appear at the bottom. Bob

PacManPlus
This is the surprise I was talking about in the Bentley thread... Schmutzpuppe was kind enough to show me what the TIA can do regarding voice samples... God, I can't wait to finish this.... Thanks, Schmutzpuppe! berzerk.a78 berzerk.bin

+Trebor
Hearing voice samples like that and seeing how good TIA can sound even with an arcade game like Donkey Kong via DK VCS, I think the default sound chip of the 2600 (7800) is not as bad as it is sometimes made out to be; granted it's no POKEY, but I think if better sound decisions are made, it can be a heck of a lot better than how it is showcased for some games (I'm looking at *you* original Nintendo game ports for the 7800 ).
jongolo
Frenzy, Armour Attack and Bentley are the reason I check Atari Age forums daily! I've got to have each one on cartridge as soon as they become available. It's funny how I anticipate these more than anything on the modern consoles. PacManPlus
Thanks, guys Re-reading my post above, I don't think I made it clear that Schmutzpuppe is the one who made that bin to demo to me some of the Berzerk voice samples that can be done using the TIA. I asked him if I could post that bin/a78 and he said that I could. Just want to make sure the correct credit is given. Bob
Nognir
I haven't played the ROM yet, but from the Screenshots alone I can't wait to get my hands on that game. Berzerk is besides Asteroids one of my all time favorites and this is going to be excellent work. Hope it will be released on cartridge! and also as a PAL version
+swlovinist
Berzerk is my all time favorite 2600 game. To find out that not only my favorite programmer is making one of my favorite games of all time, I am in heaven. Sign me up.
Atarifever
One day I want the Atariage store to carry some kind of special box that is designed to hold all of Bob's 7800 games like it's the complete series of a TV show or something. Something with art work from the games on it, and game screens on the back, with a fold out information card. Putting Bob's carts in a storage container loose when stuff like Karateka has a box seems upside down. Also, put me down for one. Obviously. PacManPlus
Thanks, guys Here's the first public WIP of Frenzy. My obligatory Todo list: Initial wall openings for Frenzy Refine robot AI for Berzerk Refine robot shot AI so the player isn't massacared upon room entry Object-to-object collision detection Evil Otto Sound HSC Quite a big list, but I would like to go back to Bently temporarily just to finish up those few little bugs... and then return to this. Thanks again, guys Bob Frenzy.A78 Frenzy.bin
+Trebor
If Bob keeps this up the 7800 BIOS will have to be replaced with the one by BLUE in Bob's avatar and the system will have to be renamed. I have an Atari 7800 PacManPlus System...The Choice of the Experts. Some more years at this rate, he could eclipse the number of original retail games.
VectorGamer
Right now the game ramps up in difficulty quickly.
PacManPlus
lol - thanks guys @rmaerz - yep, I know it's a bit tough (!) quickly... that's why I had this point: "Refine robot shot AI so the player isn't massacared upon room entry". The robots aren't even supposed to shoot for a few seconds. I will be taking care of that. NOTE - anyone who downloaded the bins before now needs to download them again. Had a little issue with the end of game detection. Thanks again, Bob
+swlovinist
If Bob continues to make games for the 7800, we might have to rename the system in his honor .
