NANO-PEB 16C550 UART / SITE UPDATE

Exactly what I need to know. But, is the HDX something that can be done with a normal RS232 card or is it a modification of a RS232 or a card on it's own?

I have some photos that might be of interest to you in my gallery << HERE >>

What you'll see from the photo is the additional board mounted on the TI's RS-232 and a few extra wires attached. There are a couple of Atari Age members that do this sort of work if you do not feel comfortable doing it yourself.

looks like a daughter board, much like f18a. Is the add on the HDX? Can you still get it?

Oh HELL YEAH, they just made a run of these boards a few weeks ago. I know one guy that would probably make one up for you (he did mine), or you could buy the bare board and do it yourself. Heck, CantStopClicking would probably sell you a complete machine ready to go.

Not sure I want to do the bare board thing just yet but if I can get some one to make me up a board, that be great. This has been my #1 impediment to going PEB was that I could transfer all my .dsk files to the disk efficiently and this look like it will do the trick.

Yeah it does not get easier than this:

1) Load up the program...

2) Enter a the disk you want to send it to and the filename of the disk image... and off you go!

3) You are done, the WHOLE thing is copied!

4) A disk directory for confirmation...

suddenly went from 0 to 2 options.

If I'm not mistaken it looks like the HDX makes a fast virtual drive on the TI99 as device HDX.

from what I quickly just read over the info on the VDM99, is it more of transfer program?

Does that sound right?

Check Fred Kaal's website for more than you want to know about his TI99HDX hardware/software project.

...lee

KAV just threw a ton of AV alerts at that link...

Yeah that does sound right I think. I was amazed at drag/dropping disks/files on the PC with VDM99 and the TI/PEB cruising along. :D

HDX is software and hardware.

Software on the PC side (required)

Serial cable from the PC to the TI

Software on the TI side (either DSR modification on TI rs232 card OR load cfhdxs1 software on stock TI or corcomp card (haven't tested myarc))

Hardware on the TI side. (TI RS232 card with DSR daughterboard modification or stock TI or Corcomp RS232 card with cfhdxs1 software tool)

With the DSR mod, HDX1 device is available in any program that uses DSR calls.

Without it you have to use the CFHDXS1 program to access HDX1

I'm selling pre-modded TI cards on my website.. www.arcadeshopper.com also boards to mod your own TI card.

Greg

Checked out your site. Very cool. It's still a little over my head but I'm working toward it. It's my goal to start building stuff likes available on your site that's why I got a real TI99 to start learning hardware.

Is this True?

TMS9902 can support 500K BAUD?

https://groups.google.com/forum/#!msg/comp.sys.ti/AE7IMGYzAKE/uuQn9BmCBjQJ

Maybe ... but don't confuse the speed with which the device can send or receive a single character with the speed with which the rest of the system can send characters to it or read characters from it.

I don't have any V2 available. I do have V1 version available. If you write I/O directly to the UART you can achieve 38400 bps. However, the terminal emulator cartridge only supports up to 300 bps (verrrry slow!). "Telco", a third party terminal is not compatible with nanoPEB. There may be others that would work.

Doesn't telco bang on the TMS9902 directly?
