Doom 2016, Caladrius Blaze, and Master Chief Collection are all on sale on Steam right now. Also Hellsinker. and GRAND CROSS: ReNOVATION. I have absolutely no idea what the hell is going on in that game even though I have played it, but it's definitely something.

and Andro Dunos II.

I still have not played it. Been distracted by Death Stranding. I'll get around to it eventually.

Andro Dunos II is great... it's perhaps my current favorite horizontal shmup. I have the Switch version though.

I heard they messed up every version of the game other than the PC version, which is the only version of the game that Picorinne Soft actually made, and that Picorrine Soft is having great difficulty getting the people who made the other versions to implement patches to fix stuff. I hope they didn't mess the Dreamcast version up too badly, but I heard the 3DS version only runs at 30FPS for some reason, making that version essentially completely pointless.

I've had no issues with the Switch version other than wishing I could remap the buttons to work better with my arcade stick.

What's messed up on the others?  I didn't know about this game until now, and thinking of picking it up.  Based on what you said, PC version seems to be the way to go, but I have a whole bunch of Switch dollars I gotta use, so trying to see what's the deal.

Switch version is fine.

The creator of these games has unfortunately died, and as a result these games are now permanently free on Steam:

Lots of stuff on sale over on GOG until the 5th, as well.

Since when is 30fps pointless?  That seems like 60fps drama queen level commentary there.  A locked 30 is perfectly great, what you don't want is a wobbly one or something that dips even an inch below.

It's definitely not pointless. 100million+ PS4 gamers can't be wrong.  There will always be some extra snobbery with PC gamers.  I'm still using a GTX 750ti and it plays 8 zillion games, quite well.  Of course, I'll have to upgrade if I want to play more recent AAA titles.  Framerates that stutter into the teens are unplayable for me, aside from a few specific genres.

I managed to play, quite a lot of Cities: Skylines, on an under powered laptop.  It was a slideshow, at times, but it was just playable enough to build a 100k person city.  Of course, the experience is WAY better, even on my ancient i7 4770 + 750ti but sometimes you make do and other times...it's almost fun to see what you can squeeze out of barely suitable hardware.

I had that on an old i5 laptop that ran the Intel HD3000 chipset, despite it supposedly not wanting to work I had Civilization 5 running on a mix of medium and some low settings at a fairly nice playable level, never chugged.  The thing ran star craft II I tested out of curiosity too but did find that the graphics engine that the time Call of Duty ran utterly hated the card so Modern Warfare(1st) chugged at 1-3fps because it couldn't handle the hardware t&l routine.  It ran slightly better on software mode bypassing the chipset which nailed that as the culprit.

Last day to buy the older Unreal games before they get delisted. All four @ $1.99 each.

Wow thanks for the heads up. I hate missing out on good games.

I saw this on GOG, but I remember hearing this a few days earlier that they were being removed from Steam too. GOG had them priced at $5.99 each if you bought all that you didn't have, but then reduced the price to $1.99 later in the day and that was when I bought them. We'll see how Unreal Tournament 3X turns out. It has online crossplay between GOG, Steam and Epic.

Not sure if someone already posted this but:

The new Monkey Island Game, Return to Monkey Island is 20% off, on GOG/Steam.

I snagged it and played through the first few sections and I'm really enjoying it.  I was a little uncertain about the art style, from the previews, but it's actually quite good. It has sort of cartoony-cubism style that's immersive and it makes you look forward to seeing how returning characters will look. It seems like everything is hand drawn, which is pretty impressive for a mid-priced game.  The voice acting and music are also very good.

I'm biased, as a fan of the series and the genre, but I think that it's well worth $20.00.

I'm playing it too (via Xbox Gamepass), and I agree with you.  I think it is a worthy sequel and continues the legacy of Monkey Island very well.

Matrix Games / Slitherine is currently running a very nice holiday special, up to 90% off some games (though most games seem to be in the 10-50% off range).  These are all mostly somewhat hardcore wargames, but some are more approachable than others.  For me, anyway, the price was finally right to try to get into my first wargame, John Tiller's Battleground Civil War (a collection of the classic Talonsoft Battleground games from back in the mid 90s).
