For me, the original game didn't hit its stride until more than halfway through Yeah I never liked Joel and didn't care for the early part of the game either. I actually fell asleep playing it more than once! Probably would have given up at that point if everybody didn't keep telling me to "keep going, the game is amazing!" It did pick up towards the middle, but I had some real problems with the ending.
