Flojomojo
I'm so happy this got made. I have a feeling I'm one of a very few, but it was conspicuously missing from the Play Store. It works nicely on the Nvidia Shield with custom mappings. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gooh.vpacapp I thought this was interesting: Game content with permission by Philips. 2 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/222452-odyssey-2videopac-emulator-for-android-very-nice/ Share on other sites
Seob
The person who wrote the app is Göran Öhman a former employe from Intron AB a Stockholm based company that produced videopac games for Philips and Parker Brothers. He programmed Trans American Rally, Clay Pigeon and most part of Frogger. Owner of Intron AB was Peter Inser. Flojomojo
It's no longer in the Google Play store, which is a shame, because there are so few O2 projects out there, big or small. RetroArch has a plug-in but it's not in the Google Play store version of the Android port yet. OMG we have an Odyssey section on AtariAge and someone helpfully moved my post into it! Thrills! Thank you!! Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/222452-odyssey-2videopac-emulator-for-android-very-nice/#findComment-3221167 Share on other sites
jeff20
I really wanted to try this, but since it's no longer in the app store, does anyone know where I could find the apk? Flojomojo
I still have it on my Nexus 7, but it stopped working a few system updates ago. :-( Here's an interview with the developer, which explains that it was a hobby project, not a major priority. It's so cool to hear that Philips was OK with releasing these old games. It makes me think that someone could do this again. http://www.the-nextlevel.com/odyssey2/articles/goranohman/ Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/222452-odyssey-2videopac-emulator-for-android-very-nice/#findComment-3546342 Share on other sites
Jess Ragan
The APK exists online, but it doesn't work with the Xiaomi Mi Box. RetroArch has problems of its own... it'll load games, but it doesn't seem to have any support for the Ody2 keyboard, effectively making games impossible to play. Come on people, that input can't be that hard to add, can it? You could probably find the addresses with a memory map or a schematic.
