ydcl
Hi all, Now this has me interested; and can someone explain this to me how it's done please. This guy on etsy makes custom cratridges that work on your NES, and some games include Mario Forever and Metroid Ultra. Does anyone here know how the process is done and how hard it actually is? is there a tutorial somewhere? https://www.etsy.com/shop/RetroFools?ref=custom_order_convo
SiLic0ne t0aD
There are a lot of hacks out there, SMB in particular. I think they just take the existing source code and alter it to make a "new" game out of it. I don't have any repros/hacks yet but I am looking to get some soon for my NES. I don't know exactly how they do this but I am interested in learning myself.. I'd search around and read up on everything, NintendoAge is probably a great resource for information on those types of things.
Rex Dart
No source code necessary; just write the game files to chips... ta-da, cartridge.

Where do I get the chips? The guy I spoke to said he can put many 8bit games into cartridges.

RegularGuyGamer
Just skip the foreplay and go to www.retrousb.com and purchase the powerpak. Or wait a couple months and purchase the powerpak2 which will have an incredible amount of compatibility. Either way, the amount of hacks you'll be able to play w a flash cart are endless and considering repros run around $30-50 id you're going to buy more than 4-5 it is more than worth it.
