high voltage
Sounds and looks UK centric, or will it cover USA stuff too (and not just Epyx, Activision and First Star)? UK games weren't really popular over in USA. I've seen a pic of Boulder Dash on your Kickstarter page, which was and Atari 800 original actually, but there's things to consider like SSI, Origin, Microprose, Sir-Tec, Mindscape, EA, Infocom, Datasoft, Access, Broderbund and many many more. Long running US magazines like Loadstar, Ahoy magazine, and others should be printed about too. All the stuff you mention on Kickstarter we already read about in Retro Gamer. Just a suggestion. cimerians
I agree with High Voltage, Retro Gamer covered a lot of stuff but it was more UK centric. In the US the C64 was a big game machine for the publishers High Voltage mentions. SSI, ORIGIN, EA and Infocom were huge here in the states. bojay1997
I was excited when I first heard about this project, but I became pretty disappointed when I looked into it more. It's basically just a book full of screen captures of various games. Very little in the way of any actual written content and frankly, it doesn't even look like he ismaking much effort to seek permission or information from any of the programmers or publishers. As such, this is a pass for me. Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/223967-c64-book-kickstarter/#findComment-2965005 Share on other sites
TPA5
I think it looks cool, actually. He states in the Kickstarter description that he is trying his best to contact the various publishers and get their permission, but like he said due to the age lots of them have simply vanished without a trace. Personally, I like the idea of a truly retro art coffee-table book.
