MaPa
Did you ever wish that Rolltris would have not been done with that stupid game concept and rather be a "normal" tetris? So then your dreams comes true as MPG PRODUCTION brings you a "new" game Thetris, made exclusively for FLOP magazine number 57. It's Rolltris recoded and adjusted to classic tetris behaviour. So we hope you will like it and play it a lot, have fun! thetris.xex Thetris.zip

flashjazzcat
Wow - my wife loves Tetris, so perhaps this is an opportunity for her to see some good in the Ataris. Anyway - great work, and thanks!
Marius
Well THANK YOU mapa. I love Rolltris, but I also love tetris. You have really made my day. Thanks again!
+Philsan
26 on-screen colors (+ overscan), if I am not wrong!
Marius
Have played the game a few times now. It's nice! Very nice! Thanks again.
twh/f2
Simply beautiful. Looks like really every single pixel has been polished up for perfect presentation. Maybe the best Tetris-clone on the 8bit Atari ever. Thanks MaPa and PG! Great work. Wish I could be at the Atariada this year. greetings, twh! MaPa
Just want to remind you that you can use keyboard for control too, use IJKL and SHIFT keys. Playing on keyboard is IMHO better than joystick.
+therealbountybob
Fantastic work But is it the best game on Issue 57? This could be the best Flop mag ever though I haven't seen the other 56 Looking forward to the release http://flop.atariportal.cz/
powersoft
Well done bro's... Nice playable (even by joystick ) played this for hours - but should now something in the flat... GREAT WORK... atx4us
I didn't like Rolltris much and hoped that it would be modified to play classic Tetris. Thank you very much for the Thetris version! Inclusion of the source code is great, too I think that a "dissolve" effect of some kind to clear the completed lines and some sound effects (in addition to / or instead of the background music) would make this version even more polished. Aking
is it me or it has more on-screen colors than even 7800's block drop ?
+therealbountybob
Arrgh please have a version where fire is rotate and up is hard drop (swap them over) ... I think that a "dissolve" effect of some kind to clear the completed lines and some sound effects (in addition to / or instead of the background music) would make this version even more polished. Sound effects, yes please
Marius
I agree with TRBB ... rotating is more something for the fire button
MaPa
Rebind keys in emulator
Marius
Emulator? I only use atari 800xl. But I can change it myself I guess... Ocean Detox is also still one of my most played games. Very nice title, still!
+therealbountybob
Rebind keys in emulator you should know by now I'm a real Atari kinda guy though I am starting to get used to this crazy control system... Does Thetris level up past 9? Thought I noticed a speed increase during level 9? What massive score have you managed MaPa?
MaPa
No, level 9 is the latest level and it does not speed up anymore, so you can play "forever" then. I played it in emulator only. I remember I did score around 280.000 but we then raised bonus for clearing more lines at once a little bit.
MaPa
Just played it once now and I did well... .. played in emulator. On real HW I strongly suggest use of keyboard. Edited May 28, 2014 by MaPa
Marius
I found out this game also runs on my Atari 400PAL 48K (except for the title screen). It's great to see a 2014 title on my Atari 400 (never been more happy with an atari) On that machine though, I would not suggest keyboard control. MaPa
Hmm strange.. IMHO it should work on Atari with 48kB RAM (in emulator it works at least with OS-B ROM... I don't have OS-A one).
