+OLD CS1
A kind-of DropBox for AtariAge, I suppose. Something for files like the gallery is for pictures. Make sense?
+Schmitzi
Hi, If there is no solution, I can offer some ftp-space. But this means you have to use links, carrying you away from AA Ralf
+OLD CS1
Thanks, but I have server space, that is not a problem. In fact, I am working on a new personal web site. I was just hoping for something integrated into AtariAge to keep traffic captive.
Albert
I do have a solution for hosting files on AtariAge in this manner. The forum software has a "Downloads" module that currently isn't activated. My primary plans for this module are to allow people to use it for hosting files for Homebrews and Hacks for various systems, especially as it allows you to update entries with new versions, which is useful for development. But I could also add a section for general storage. And, just to get things going, I could simply add that for now, and then add the more involved Homebrew/Hack file areas later (I need to get some thought as to how exactly I want to structure that). However, I need to figure out a solution for the menu bar at the top, as it's already too long in some conditions. Adding "Downloads" to that is only going to make it worse. There are third-party solutions that allow you to setup a drop down menu for specified items, which would help keep the row of links more compact. ..Al
+OLD CS1
Yup, the Downloads module is exactly what I am thinking. I am not going to push on it too much since it will take a good bit of work to implement.
+OLD CS1
You said you can update to new versions, does the module keep track of those versions (like a "last updated" field in the description?)
Albert
You said you can update to new versions, does the module keep track of those versions (like a "last updated" field in the description?) Yes, and you can download the earlier versions as well. Here is an example of what to expect: Here you can see selecting an older version: This will work pretty well for homebrew games during development. ..Al

+Schmitzi
If I upload pictures to the threads or conversations, it would be nice to have the option to make them smaller, instantly.
+retroclouds
Would be cool if the label of the spoiler tag could be set. It now always says "Spoiler". You see, the label always says "Spoiler" Edited March 22, 2015 by retroclouds
Gazoo
What would be cool is if there was a way to view the 2 sections of the TI area of the Atariage forum as one, instead of the 2 separate sections. As it is now I open each section in a separate tab, then look at both tabs individually while holding the control key down and clicking on the topics I'm interested in to open them in a new tab. It was easier to do when everything was in one section. Gazoo
Opry99er
^^This is what I was talking about in the emulator subforum Michael started. It's quite common in online forums to be able to "View New Content" irrespective of subforum heading. This lists ALL threads in ALL subforums from the most recently updated topic down. The only factor here is that TI-99 is, in fact, a subforum with a nested subforum. Still shouldnt be impossible, but may require some work. As an active member of many online forums, this trait is ubiquitous amongst them all.

Gary from OPA
I like the downloads module idea, if our wonderful admin can figure out how to enable it the way he want, I think that would be super-useful. Come to think of it, I need to do the same on my own forum sites for video gaming consoles, its never an easy day being an admin, its non-stop work. And its wonderful to see the admin here taking out time from his daily tasks to help us little TI99 crowd on his amazing big website with tons of other active forums.

I can definitely do that -- I've been paying for that Downloads module for some time, and I really need to devote the time to get it setup properly. I hadn't considered a "general" files area, so I will definitely include that when I configure it. ..Al
+OLD CS1
I would be happy with just an area where I can post files for people to browse, similar to the pictures gallery. A general area is an interesting idea, too, as we could post up useful utilities for the entire forum or sub-forum (like XB256, RXB, SLR, Magellan, Classic99?, etc. etc.)
+retroclouds
Not this "spoiler"-buttons please, I want to read, not to klick. Klicks are taking my foces (scrolling not) Well if you use it wisely it doesn't distract that much I'd say. One particular area where I find it useful is when displaying long chunks of source code. +retroclouds
Would be nice if the mobile version would also show who is currently browsing the (sub)-forum. Nowadays I hardly use the desktop version anymore, unless I am at the PC
Nebulon
I think it's great the way it is and hope that stuff is never re-arranged (by that I mean that the position of buttons, menus, etc... is good the way it is now). Sometimes webmasters decide to shuffle everything around when their sites were already good to begin with. If I were to ask for anything, it would be the ability to change the background color to black and the text to a choice of white, amber, or green. But that's a "nice-to-have" and certainly not a must-have item.

I'm using Deflection and it seems close enough to what I was thinking of. I think I spotted a 'bug' with it though. When you view a listing of messages using either [View new content] or [My Content] it's hard to tell the read items from the non-read items (blue non-bold versus blue bolded). However, if you click on [Forum] and then a sub-forum, it's easy to tell the difference (grey non-bold versus blue bold). So if it was always to use grey non-bold for read items and blue bolded for unread, it would be pretty much perfect).
+Schmitzi
Hi, handling pictures on AA is really hard. Upload, download, viewing.... sorry, but in comparison to all other sites i know, it is fiddly RS
+Schmitzi
I think, there is no sense adding my photos on AA, if I have no chance to change/edit that. I did it once, and now these are old and not up to date, and do not show whats on my mind, and I cannot change that A function like albums (see facebook) would be good, this animates me uploading and uploading and editing and uploading a.s.o.......
