wolfman24
Internet Gaming Bash of the Year Date of the contest: Will run from 07/01/2014 – 08/05/2014 Participation: Will be open to the entire website that is participating. Games: There will be as many games per week as there are teams. (i.e., 5 teams will result in 5 games per week. The maximum amount of games possible for a given week will be limited to 10). Game Selection: Each website will pick their game to be submitted for the play week. Remember, this is a 5-week tourney. Games will be Mame-only. Games can not be reused after selected. The Sites will also have to play game submissions from each site each week as well Scoring System: Each website will submit their 5 highest scores per game. Each score will count as a rank. The scores will be tallied each week and after all 5 weeks are up, the lowest score will be crowned the Internet’s greatest gaming team. If your team has less then 5 submissions the missing subs will be in last place An example of this would be: Team 1 rank Score 1 1 Score 2 5 Score 3 10 Score 4 20 Score 5 30 Total Points 66 # A few other rules... * autofire is allowed * controller usage is allowed * continues not allowed * no cheats or hacks * ...and most important: have fun !! wolfman24
to make the scoring easier to understand I am thinking about adding a cap to 3 games a week and doing a rotation Week One Scenario: Site A has 20 participants and picked Galaga as their selection.Site B has 50 participants and picked Bosconian as their selection.Site C has 30 participants and picked Zoo Keeper as their selection. Each team now must qualify with five scores on each of the above games. It does not matter how many player scores a site submits on each game as only the top five scores for each site qualify. These top five qualifying scores are now ranked against the other sites top five qualifying scores. Team score is based on rank tally with the lowest score tally winning the round. Should a team fail to submit five scores on each game, missing submissions will automatically receive last place rank. In the above scenario, last place rank with three teams would be 15.At the end of week one the standings might look like this for Galaga:Galaga:1 point - 2,000,000 - submission 1 site a2 points - 1,800,000 - sub 1 site c3 points - 1,700,000 - sub 2 site a4 points - 1,600,000 - sub 3 site a5 points - 1,500,000 - sub 4 site a6 points - 600,000 - sub 5 site a7 points - 550,000 - sub 2 site c8 points - 500,000 - sub 3 site c9 points - 450,000 - sub 1 site b10 points - 400,000 - sub 4 site c11 points - 350,000 - sub 5 site c12 points - 300,000 - sub 2 site b13 points - 250,000 - sub 3 site b14 points - 200,000 - sub 4 site b 15 points- 150,000 - sub 5 site bSite A received points for 1st place, 3, 4, 5 and 6th place for a total of 19 points.Site B received points for 9th place, 12, 13, 14 and 15th place for a total of 63 points.Site C received points for 2nd place, 7, 8, 10 and 11th place for a total of 38 points.Overall team scores for Galaga:Site A - 19Site C - 38Site B - 63Now repeat the above for Bosconian and Zoo Keeper to obtain the total week scores for each team.Continue on to week two and repeat. wolfman24
Contest revisions: Due to heavier than anticipated interest and numerous players bringing up many concerns, the following is a list of changes for this contest. While we appreciate that some players may or may not agree to everything here, we think these changes will make for a better overall tournament that the majority of players will enjoy. Due to the date at hand, there will be no further changes to this contest. 1. - Selected games will be played for the entire five week period 2. - Each team will choose four games – send your game selections to Wolf no later than June 30th. Wolf will inform all sites of game selections upon receipt of selections. Should duplicate game selections be received, the team with the highest number of registered players will yield to the team with the smaller number of players. The smaller team will select another game. Wolf will advise of all details once final list of games have been posted. Once games are selected and posted by Wolf, players not already registered on a site are no longer eligible to play. Existing site members may join (eliminates ringers). Games will be played with default dip switches 3. - Auto fire is not allowed 4. - Adjudication – we all know or know of each other generally speaking so there should be no need for this. Players are encouraged to save their INPs for all game play. Disputes (if any) will be handled on a case by case basis and reviewed by all sites. 5. - Submissions: players should submit their scores via this form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1bvAq5ufSn0xhjKHaDDbk8bgb2Tc7hCNUN_LytQJRCFI/viewform?edit_requested=true as we want to maintain as live a scoreboard as possible, please submit early and often. Please do not hold on to score submissions. 6. - All games must be completed and submissions received no later than 11:59PM Eastern Standard Time on August 5th. Any scores submitted after this time will not be valid. Again, submit early and often. Looking forward to an awesome tournament! scoreboard https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1nJ-KNPx9vkNL1jGBrGhp-iJZrOydLTT-Rxk9SLiDfA0/edit?pli=1#gid=1760611698 Any questions, write vgwolfman@yahoo.com Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/226434-internet-gaming-bash-of-the-year/#findComment-3016795 Share on other sites

wolfman24
The Gates Are Opened IGB Update June 30th, 2014 Players may play on MAME, stream from arcade cabinets, or play on the RU site (using score mode and submitting completed games). Players not playing on the RU site should retain INPs or streams in the event questions arise. Screen shots are acceptable, though discouraged unless no other means is available (an example: a player is unable to stream at an arcade so they capture a screen shot). It is up to the player or individual team to manage their screenshots or files. Please do not send these files to us unless requested As a reminder, this is an honor system tournament. Play accordingly and with generally acceptable rules in mind. If in doubt as to what is and is not legal, ask. Sites are encouraged to ensure that their player submissions are in line with player capabilities. Disputes with game play (if any) will be reviewed on a case by case basis by all sites. Let’s make every effort to avoid disputes for everyone’s sake. Submissions are for games played within the contest time frame. Please submit early and often so we may maintain an up to date, live as possible scoreboard. Please do not hold on to scores. Scores may be submitted for each team using the following links: Atariage/highscore use this https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1bvAq5ufSn0xhjKHaDDbk8bgb2Tc7hCNUN_LytQJRCFI/viewform?edit_requested=true Please note: • We do not have a hosting solution at this moment so at times google docs may crash or not respond. Should this occur, refresh the page. • Players will need to submit scores via form for the score to be validated, otherwise expect a day turn-around to see the score updated. • If you have any score related problems, contact Wolf Finally, and what everyone really wants to read, here is the final game list: (Default Dipswitches) Team Gameex Games Mr. Do! Slaytanic
With the "last minute" addition of another team, and 4 more games i think we need better organization. I have a hard to seeing everyone on the team submitting scores for every game, right? RIGHT? Some are better at shooters, some like driving games and some only play the "real" classics from the early 80's. Some need ROMs even. I suggest a mailinglist for those that want to participate on a more serious level, sharing tips and strategy's, having a discussion who's more likely to score high on game X etc etc. Send a mail to genesisproject86 [at] g m a i l .c o m (without the spaces ) Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/226434-internet-gaming-bash-of-the-year/#findComment-3022403 Share on other sites

DonPedro
Thanks for organizing this very well run tournament wolfman and team. Automatic score submission form and scoreboard updated in realtime were great ideas. I hope this event becomes an annual fixture. The only thing I'm not satisfied with is my own performance. Could've done more. Hopefully next year I'll have more time to commit to this.
