+Stephen
Yes - according to the picture on Candle's website, a 180 Ohm resistor is needed (Brown, Grey, Brown) Then click the "XE Line" link.

If you just received a new unit from Lotharek I don't think you need any resistors for the RD4/RD5 inputs, the v2 board he sells is supposed to already include them. If this is a v1 board made by Candle then it does need them. There is also an alternative to modifying the circuit board or MMU cable if the resistors are required, AA user Dropcheck sells an adaptor that fits between the MMU socket and the U1MB MMU cable. http://www.bitsofthepast.com/?product=super-mmu-adapter
flashjazzcat
I don't think Lotharek supplies Ultimate boards which require the resistors. If the board has "Lotharek" written on it, and especially if the board is WHITE, then you can forget about the resistors. Hi!, these are the photos from the card I received: imagen jpg In the lotharek site step by step installation: INSTALLATION STEP BY STEP : desolder MMU (20 pins) and OS ROM (28 pins) or remove them from their sockets if socketed (dude! really need to desolder the MMU and OS) ROM?) and then: solder into atari board sockets if there is any (not included) (I am little confused in these steps) insert adapters into sockets ( RED STRIPE on cable indicates PIN 1 of removed chip) Make proper connection of ULTIMATE with CPU - CLICK Make proper connections with ribbon cables Fix ULTIMATE PCB inside atari READY ! You can power on atari, enter setup ( HELP + RESET) and adjust all You want ! BTW not mentioned resistors sorry for so many questions but this is my first mod and I want to make it right! Thanks so much Edited July 19, 2014 by dnt_mood
BillC
R8/R9(below the jumpers in the second image) on this v2 board produced by Lotharek eliminated the need to add the MMU signal resistors.

+mytek
I figured this was as good of a place as any to post my XEGS with Lotharek's Ultimate 1Meg and Stereo Pokey/U-Switch installation. And to really round it out, I also installed Bryan's UAV board as well. So good news is... everything worked first time out of the box. Which is good, since I was in a rush and soldered the jumper wires instead of doing it the proper way with crimp terminal connectors.I opted for using a 3.5 mm Stereo Jack on my audio output, which allowed me to use an existing hole left from the removal of the RF module. All it took was a round file to slightly enlarge the hole so that the jack could fit through. For the S-Video output coming from the UAV board, I luckily was able to use the other hole that once had the RF jack sticking through. And by soldering in a PC mount 4 pin Mini-DIN connector (upside down) to the XEGS motherboard's ground plane surround, and using epoxy to hold the 3.5 mm jack next to it, it made for a slide in fit into the original bottom half of the case. No disconnecting of anything required.By removing the inductor/capacitor component behind the stock composite video jack, I was able to use a coax cable from composite out of the UAV board. So other than the very minor filing for the 3.5 mm jack, the XEGS case is virtually unchanged. The coolest part of this entire installation is the superb video I get from Bryan's UAV board. It is beyond night and day as compared to the stock video, and when the S-Video output is used, amazingly clear and bright. In fact it looks so good, that I doubt if a VBXE would look any better.- Michael Edited May 15, 2016 by mytekcontrols
+mytek
BTW, I got a couple of questions, and hopefully someone has answers... What is the 'SR' terminal on the Stereo Pokey board for? What is the XEGS jumper on the U-1Meg about? Currently I have it not-jumpered and everything appears to be working. How do I know what version of the U-1Meg set-up utility I have? - Michael
Roydea6
2. Jumped gets you to one of 4 Game slots if you have a REV4 os rom booting and SELECT key held down..
+mytek
2. Jumped gets you to one of 4 Game slots if you have a REV4 os rom booting and SELECT key held down.. Hi rdea6 Can you add a bit more to this explanation? Keep in mind that all I have to go on is Lotharek's installation manual which is very thin if you know what I mean, and I really haven't found a good substitute as yet (it's difficult piecing the story together from all of the little tidbits scattered throughout various posts on A.A. and elsewhere). - Michael
Roydea6
The first screen show the XEGS slot if available. And when available with the XEGS pins jumped and real hardware you can Tab to this slot and pressing the RETURN key it will cycle through the Game Slots 1-4 if added to U1M bios.. 3. The second screen show the Bios version # If you don't have this type of screen then you are using an older BIOS. Capture.PNG Capture2.PNG I've got an older bios for sure, but now I understand better about what you mentioned. Actually I have two U-1Meg boards, one that I got from a friend, and the other from Lotharek recently (which probably has the newer bios). Luck of the draw was that I picked the older one to install, which due to my soldered connections would not be easy to swap out. So how would I update the bios? Is there a method that can be used within the Atari itself? - Michael

Thank you ever so much for all your help rdea6 I suppose if push came to shove, I could always swap the socketed chip from one U-1Meg to the other, and just update the other one when I actually install it into something. - Michael
Roydea6
If push came to shove, You would still have an older bios. The newer Bios is quite recent.
+mytek
Yes you have convinced me that I should just bite the bullet and upgrade the existing chip's bios. I was just taking the path of least resistance, but inevitably it is something I need to learn to do. Thanks for the gentle push
