Just a sampling of swag I picked up at CGE :-D

CGE 2014 Pick Ups

  • I have the signed Flashback Sleeves packed safely away, so they didn't make it in the photo.
  • The Tron Deadly Discs is factory sealed and.........Oh, yeah....It's the Italian version......$5
  • Sealed Shark Shark gatefold was $8
  • Auto Racing isn't sealed, but it's a pretty rare box variant I learned of this weekend (thanks to Cmart).
  • Intellivision Inc Soccer, Lock N Chase, and Skiing were all $5 each and all sealed.
  • Frogger is French Canadian and sealed (anyone know how to tell if Parker Bros games were resealed?).
  • Intellivisionaries music and 4 episodes on CD
  • Buttons, arcade tokens, trading cards, etc........

Don't forget the Intellivision-AtariAge badge. That might be worth serious money some day. :P

Actually, the curious part of me wonders what the 4 extra badges would go for on eBay. On the other hand, that seems like it would cheapen the free individualized badges if I did that. (Of course, those of you with badges are free to do with them as you please; whether that be to treasure them, chuck them in the fireplace, or even sell them on eBay).

The main issue is that before plans can be announced for 2015 it looks like, they have to assess and figure out how they are going forward, since there were two separate 'groups' working together on 2014, the CGE Services/VGMuseum folks and The Retrogaming Roundup crew. Without Scott and RGR, there would not have been a CGE 2014. With the VG Museum announcement of the permanent location in Frisco, TX, there would seem to be some complications in terms of how long it will take to announce future CGE plans. Does this mean there might be no show? 1 show? *two* shows - one at the museum and one in vegas?

My take - as long as Scott Schrieber is involved, he wants to have the/a show in Vegas. Heck, he organized an informal 'EGC' (emergency gaming conference) 'hangout/gaming trip' in Vegas in 2011 when there wasn't going to be a CGE 2011. He put his money and hard work out there up front to make CGE2014 happen, and as long as it looks sustainable I can't see him not wanting to do 2015.

[edit] Go to 1hr 40min in to the newly released Retrogaming Roundup podcast and they start the talk on CGE. basically going over many of the points. That CGE Services want to host CGE at the museum, that there could be CGE - Vegas as a 'branch'. Each group would 'have to go talk to the boys..' about it. Scott said he'd be willing to run vegas as a CGE event, or as a brand new event.
