Blazing Lazers
Ok, got a fz1 coming in the ail! What r some essential games I must play?? If you enjoy more slowly paced games I'd recommend the RPG Lucienne's Quest and the detective game The Lost Files of Sherlock Holmes. There's also a unique pinball game called PaTaank that has you playing as the pinball in a 3D world. There's also an unusual Soviet themed trivia/game show game for two players called Zhadnost that is original, if nothing else.
Cdk6040
My Japanese Fz1 i bought as a replacement only plays Japanese games. Have tried official US games Gex, it sits loading then spits it out same with US copies. The Sampler Disk for the 1st fz1 gives me a message then shows information on the types of media it can support. Music cds work no problem, Japanese games, work tested Road Rash. Is there a mode select that im not aware of? Everyone in the comments say are all region free minus the pal versions. Whats going on here? Your system should play US games just fine. 3DO systems are not region locked in the typical sense (there are weird exceptions, but unrelated to what you are experiencing). I'm not sure how many US discs you tried, but if you only attempted Gex, it could just be a bad disc. It not reading a CDr version isn't necessarily a dead giveaway either (my FZ-1 hates CDr media in general, even with the best discs). I'd try more games and see if the results are similar. FZ-1 systems have been noteworthy for needing the caps replaced. When they start to go bad, it's possible weird behaviors crop up like this. So that's something to keep in mind if this unit hasn't had any maintenance performed on it. These things aren't getting any younger.
