Question about The Bureau

I loved the hell out of Xcom: Enemy Unknown and would love to have a sequel or DLC added for the game.

I recently came across The Bureau, which is an Xcom prequel. I thought about buying it but after reading the back of the case, it appears this game isn't turn based at all but a 3rd person shooter. While I like some 3rd person shooters, like Gears of War, I'm not sure I want to play an Xcom game this way.

Just wondering if anyone else has played The Bureau and if so, what are your thoughts on the game.

Haha... I'm not much of a modern gamer, but I've suddenly found myself with 3 PS3's and about 70 of the blasted games. Pun intended.

The Bureau is one of them. I too was/am a fan of the originals and this game is pretty cool for what it is: a 3rd person Sci-Fi shooter w/ strong ties to the original story and in how you choose to place yourself strategically.

I'm not really interested in all the 'me too' realistic war shooters, so when this dropped in price ($10 at TRU), had to snag it up. Cool story line, great graphics and easy enough to control and get into. To me, this is a no-brainer purchase for the money. I'd think any fan of aliens, sci-fi, the Roswell thing in general and especially the original series, should feel the same way.

Thanks for the comments; much appreciated!

While I would prefer a turn based game, if The Bureau follows the storyline of Xcom and sets up events, I might take a chance and buy the game. The version I saw was a steel book version priced at $20 and I wasn't sure if I wanted to spend that much money on a 3rd person shooter "Xcom".

Toys R Us still has them at $10. They just put it on sale or clearance recently, so chances are extremely good that they still have 'em near you. And Best Buy has them for $16-$17 IIRC.

Not sure I've ever seen a Steelbook version of a PS3 game.... you're talking about the tins that usually accompany a movie in DVD/Blu-ray form? Yeah, I wouldn't care to screw up the shelf with something like that anyway. I've always avoided those things.
