Andromeda Stardust
Just curious, do the games save on the AtGames Genesis? (either the cart or the SD versions). I saw them both for $50 at Walgreens earlier today. I can't imagine either would be half as good as the Genny side of my Super Retro Trio. It even plays SMS and runs Everdrive... Iwantgames:)
Haven't got any games on mine with save feature yet, tried landstalker but it has graphical issues and won't let me move my character

Two reasons you should never get the ATGames Genesis: (VA4 Model 2 is first, ATGames is second - using normal Sonic 3 cart) (Again the VA4 is first - the ATGames system version starts at about 1:04)

It's even worse than those Yobo NES clones that swap the duty cycles... My Model 1 VA7 Genesis has the grungy mono audio through the RF and AV ports, but it sounds crystal clear stereo through the headphone jack set at volume 5 with an RCA converter. And the Super Retro Trio is currently the best Genesis and SNES clone on the market. All three cartridge ports support the Everdrive and it even works with SMS adapters. The NES side has small audio and graphics hiccups through a tiny percentage of NES games, but over 90% of games play flawlessly with no issues. Inky
FYI, if you're looking for one of these, check your local Walgreen's. My local one had 3 in stock for 50% off.As a Walgreens employee, I got an additional 15% off that.So far, I don't think it's a bad little device. Has an AV output and everything. After playing Sonic, I understand the sound issues, but I wonder if that's because of the built in speaker.....Time to get my ear buds out. +save2600
^ Where do you guys keep your Sega units? Swear there's no consistency in any of these stores. Some places put them in a toy aisle, others place in a random spot elsewhere, some behind the counter, some by electronics... one place even had the Flashback units on the floor, next to some seasonal things. Lumping the Dollar type stores with Walgreens, but everywhere I've been looking for these, the employees (aside from one) at these places NEVER know what you're talking about or know where in their store you might accidentally find them. I'll check my local (we have 3 of them in town) Walgreens today, but expect the experience to be the same as the last few months I've been looking. Inky
Walgreen's used to have this sort of thing in the photo area with the rest of the electronics, but for some reason these were either in the toy or clearance aisle (I had an employee get it for me, as I am using a walker currently until I heal from my foot surgery, so I wasn't sure which of the two areas it was in).EDIT: I work in a warehouse,so I don't stock the stuff in the store. +save2600
Thanks! I'll be sure to check the candy, greeting card and makeup aisles too then since you never know where these things may be hiding. If I find them in a goofy spot (if at all), I'll be sure to post a pic. -edit- Checked 2 of the 3 stores in my town and only saw the Genesis console for $25. It was on an electronics clearance end cap by the photo dept. The other store had their electronics clearance section at the end of an aisle, but no Flashback units at all. Why are the portables so tough to find?? I did see this generic $20 handheld game system that looked pretty neat for what it was. 140 built in games and was called the Dreamgear or something like that. Graphics looked like they might be somewhere between an N64 and Dreamcast.

EDIT: I work in a warehouse,so I don't stock the stuff in the store. Finally found the portable Genesis handheld at a Walgreens in Madison today - $25. Shouldn't be surprised, but the box is a lot larger than I would have thought! Same size as the console versions, just half the depth. Even with the system inside, feels like nothing is in there. Haven't really checked it out, but did turn it on. Was impressed at how nice the screen looked. Contrast, brightness, sharpness, etc. was pretty good. Fully charged the battery, but the batt. low light led still likes to come on and dimly "dance" to any music or loud sound effects. Wonder if I've got a bum battery or does everyone else's behave the same?

Andromeda Stardust
I've thrown four genesis roms on an SD card and three of them ran fine.. the three that ran fine are Quackshot Earthworm Jim 007 The Duel The one that didn't work is Ms. Pac Man Lemme guess, Pacman doesn't move properly? That's a controller issue with 6-button controllers. I seriously doubt they thought to include a "mode" button or other way to disable 6-button controls. Inky
Actually Ms. Pac wouldn't boot at all. I'm going to try to get another version of the rom and test it.I've also tried two different Contra Hard Corps roms. The first on only booted to a red screen. The second one the scrolling wasn't working.

I've also tried two different Contra Hard Corps roms. The first on only booted to a red screen. The second one the scrolling wasn't working. The Contra ROM with the scrolling problem can easily be fixed. There is an *.IPS (rom patch) to be found on http://elektropage.ru (under the Sega Gopher section) that should be applied to the original romfile using Lunar IPS software. The guys at Elektropage also made 3 other patches for Pulseman, Alien Soldier and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 to fix the off-key sound and several graphical issues. For people complaining about the lack of proper audio support on the AtGames Classic or portable consoles, you can also find there a very nice software called FixGEMS that is able to patch the sound of any game using the GEMS sound driver (that covers around 180 games in the full Genesis collection). Games like Aladdin, Jungle Book, Comix Zone, Vectorman 1/2, Eternal Champions, Pocahontas, Earthworm Jim 1/2, Ristar, Kid Chameleon, Sonic Spinball and many many more can be heard with proper sound patches and key at last :=)) Edited April 1, 2015 by gkralicek
Torr
Actually Ms. Pac wouldn't boot at all. That might be an issue with the 6-Button controller. That was one of the few games where you had to hold the 6 Button pad's MODE button while powering up the system.

Getting past the menu screen and starting a game (where the errors start - Pacman moves left and right no problem but only works sporadically up and down when using a 6-button controller) would count as "booting". Torr
I see, never used the 6-Button pad with Ms Pac-Man... The only game I have that needs the MODE button is Forgotten Worlds. For whatever reason Forgotten Worlds just jumps to the GAME OVER screen as soon as you press 'Start' if you you don't hold down MODE at boot-up.
