flashback 5 w/paddles

I'm thinking about getting a relative Flashback 5 for XMas (the one with Centipede on the box) . Unfortunately,this person's favorite games are all paddle controlled. I saw the unit has control ports on the front,could I just give them my spare 2600 paddles to use,or will the plug and play not recognize the paddles?

It'll recognize both 2600 controllers. Joysticks or paddles

I just bought the new paddles from AtGames. Same as the old ones, exactly. A little stiffer, but otherwise, the same.

Eh,I somehow have extra controllers so i'll just use them. The thing is her favorite games are Circus and Warlords.and it's just not the same.

Kind of a pisser that the Genesis clone gets a cartridge port but we can't get a cart port for the 2600, eh?

I agree, put the freakin' port back on (the next Flashback). It would only add about $2 onto the cost. REally, come on already. Give the public what it wants, sucka.

If they put in a cartridge port, it would trump all other versions. At that point would they even need to make another? I think they probably will do that at some point, just makes sense. I have the flashback 2 and haven't really looked at all the others that have come out. So what is the major differences, just the included games?

Maybe they just realize that if they do put a port everyone will just use a harmony cart and there will be no need to ever release a new flashback because all games are now accessible.

That's what they're doing. The public largely has zero need for a cartridge slot on their Atari Flashback.
