peedenmark7
I recently pulled my SNES out to find that I have a good picture and sound, but the start button does not work , no other controls work. I tried several controllers and almost every boxed game that I have and the issue is the same. Any ideas ? thanks for looking .
Satoshi Matrix
wait, say that again? The start button does not work, no other controls work? So, no buttons work? Or just the Start button? First thing is to troubleshoot using another controller. if it works out and just the one you have has a wonky start button, open the controller and clean the contact pad of the start/select button and the pcb with as pure isopropanol as you can find. icemanxp300
The controller ports are simple plug connector like a ribbon. First thing I would do is try simply blowing air in the port. 2nd I would use and electrical cleaner such as deoxit. Third I would open system and make sure the cable did not get loose somehow. I would then swap controller port 2 with controller port 1 to see if the port is bad. Other than that not worth the time. Sell it as broken and let someone else waste the time on it. peedenmark7
To clarify, I do have a good picture and sound, just no controller function.. In other words I cant start the game so I don't know what else doesn't work. Worked fine this past spring when I had it out. I bought this brand new back in the day and take care of my gamin gear, have the box and everything so I will end up fixing it rather than getting in anothers problem potentially.
