LidLikesIntellivision
Ouch. Another day, another failed attempt to improve in the Perfect Christmas Supreme. I wonder how cparsley made that...
+DZ-Jay
Oh, my! I went out with my wife last night and missed all the excitement! This competition is getting hot! We have a new entry from Helper Elf Emerson; a return of the K. Clan girls; and a new challenger, ChefPepper, who joins us for the first time. Welcome! Below are my highlights on the latest comments... Today I tried to improve my score for perfect games, and I failed... But since I was recording, I decided to continue and try my first complete game. I'm glad I'm not too much rusted. Although I believe Fushek, who in 2013 beated my 2012 score, will beat my 23k score from last year; I think it's better to not post here and risk winning a 2nd time. Actually, I think Wispfollower and me shouldn't be eligible for the grand prize again; it's much better to have another winner with his dreamed Custom Carol Edition. So, I'm not posting here but I'm sharing all my secrets (if there's some I didn't mention) in video. I hope my video helps a Grand Master achieve the red score. Good Luck to all Elves. No, Liduario, say it ain't so! I think you and Wispfollower should be allowed to defend your title, we can always sort out the prize and awards at the end, but I would really like you to play and post your scores--if only to put some fire in Fushek's belly and get him cracking! So get your camera out, and start snapping some pixies! Played my first full game today and it's tougher than it looks but I'll definitely play again this month! Can't let such a low score be my "best"! shot0000.gif Welcome, ChefPepper! Don't worry too much about the really high scores you see--not only are most of them veterans, but they will also tell you that they started with a humble and respectable score like yours. You know that legendary cparsely we keep talking about? His very first entry was 565 points--and that was after playing for a week! There are tips and tricks linked to in the top post as well as those provided by Liduario and the other veteran elves. And if you have a specific question about the game, or how to beat a particular level, just ask! My best score yet. The practice mode definitely helps. You really need to learn how to get the Evil Snowman to different parts of board. That Snowball can get tricky, especially on the higher ranks. Nonetheless, there are tricks you can use to keep it away. Since it is 1:20 am here is a new days score. 7 perfects out of 10 levels aint too bad for me. Plus my new personal high score.image.jpg That's a nice score, and I like your overall improvement. One thing that I will recommend you do--and as a fellow OCD "completist" I know how hard this is: Try to avoid the Perfect Scores, at least on the later levels; ignore the candy and go for the presents as quickly as you can. You'll see that you will advance through the game faster. Try to save Christmas at least once, and then concentrate on building up your score. Nour K. is back with a first score of 335. image.jpeg Welcome back, Nour K.! I'm very glad you could join us. IK KOM IK KOM IK KOM IK KOM! It just wouldn't be the same without the K. Clan girls showing the rest how it's done. I've updated the official leaderboard. I'll post the stats soon. -dZ.

+DZ-Jay
WIth the first week of the championship coming to a close, there's plenty of challengers and some incredible progress. Remember, it is still early days so nobody's spot is secure. I've updated the first post with the current rankings and player statistics. Here are some highlights: Fushek is in the lead with 8,808 points. The Top Elite Master Elves block is empty, waiting for the first graduate from the Ranger Elf school, which includes only Darrin9999 right now. The Top Elite Helper Elf is currently bcprs1 with 2,790 points, but he may be joining Darrin9999 soon enough in the Top Elite Ranger Elves club. The Top Elite Novice Elf is pimpmaul69 with 984 points for the time being, but that is one tough spot to hold on to, so he should keep his eyes peeled! I've also updated the official leaderboard, so make sure to go look at your entry, compare your rankings and brag about your achievements. And don't forget that the 12 Days Of Christmas Carol requires you to play for twelve consecutive days, posting a new score each day, so make sure to get your scores in daily! The competition is heating up, new challengers are joining almost daily, and scores are reaching very high marks! We still have three more weeks to go, and there's plenty of surprises for all those participating--so watch this space..! Cheers! -dZ.

+DZ-Jay
Having the inty controller disc gives you a wide range of motion play allowing you to not screw up your direction easier. I have so little range i wanted to chuck my snes controller. So i decided to just play in the level selector and try to get a perfect in every stage. In the rom version you cant play stage 8 in stage selector mode. but i did pull of a perfect on every other stage eventually. Maybe this will help my gameplay in the real game. Since it is after midnight does this count as a third day in a row of playing? I would have five days but on day two i didnt submit a score cause i didnt know about tge 12 days of christmas. When i wake up i gotta fix my car but hopefully i will get some good game time in afterward. This damn competition has me playing non stop. It is consuming me. I need this patch. Not sure how long i can hold 10th place though. image.jpgimage.jpg image.jpgimage.jpg image.jpgimage.jpg image.jpg Hey, pimp! I just realized that the leaderboard script counts only days on which you play the regular adventure game. I understand that this wasn't very clear, so I will update the database to account for your full day of practice. In the future, please keep this in mind--you'll have to submit a score played on the regular adventure mode for it to count towards the 12 Days Of Christmas. Sorry about the confusion. -dZ. LidLikesIntellivision
So i am understanding that lid is trying to get a perfect christmas in every difficulty. Is there a way to change the difficulty? Every time we save Christmas, the difficulty ramps up (Novice->Helper->Ranger->Master). I'm very bad at Haunted Hollow and died there twice after saving Christmas (Helper Level), not to mention the Candy Cove in Novice (before saving Christmas). And, of course, you can change in the practice mode too but that doesn't count towards the Supreme Perfect achievement. +DZ-Jay
i too thought that i had 4 as i believed my first score was on the 2nd. But lucky for me it wasnt. I found that bug in the leaderboard script and squashed it! It was a rather stupid edge case: your first entry in the database is from 29 November, when you submitted the answer to the riddles. However, since it's not a valid score (and the competition hadn't started), it was marked as "disqualified." "Disqualified" entries are counted towards the achievements, but not towards the score rankings. This is all good so far. The problem came when calculating the consecutive days for the achievement: the program failed if the previous entry against which it was calculating was marked as "disqualified," and so your first day of play was not counted. I've updated the leaderboard. You're on your way to earn the 12 Days Of Christmas Carol achievement! So i am understanding that lid is trying to get a perfect christmas in every difficulty. Is there a way to change the difficulty? Liduario is trying to attain The Perfect Christmas Supreme, which means achieving A Perfect Christmas on all ranks in a single game. That's 64 Perfect levels in a row! Edited December 7, 2014 by DZ-Jay

stupus
Hey! Well I made a trip out to the store and picked up a big can of triple-mix popcorn to refuel This got my younger son in the spirit and he tried his hand at about a dozen games! He did pretty good, here is his highscore: Milinea - 538 Very fun family activity! This should be it for the entries from my family...as I don't think my 9 month old daughter will enter this year and neither will my wife....she is about ready to kill us from the constant game music already haha But me and the 2 boys I am sure will keep on trying for some better scores...it is very addictive and frustrating!! haha

Not sure why.. Then i had to do a bunch of stuff. Maybe later tonight i can get back to playing some more. My best gaming happens late at night anyway. As long as i can get me a patch i will be happy. Although a mug would be nice... You can take my money. You can take my woman. But dont you ever ever ever take my throne!
