maximebeauvais
what is your reference to put price on game? DP, EBAY....? I'm ok with atari price but as for NES...I don't know fu*** all about NES price. I don't know if I should use DP or EBAY price. I just don't want to sell a mario bros for 10.00$ went nobody will put more then 0.25$ and I don't want to sell a action52 for 5.00$ when I could sell it for over 25.00$. anyway here is my list so if you want to give me a hand with price I will really like it. MegaManFan
That's a lot of stuff to price mb, but if you'll forgive me the soapbox it serves as a good opportunity for me to give two cents on "pricing guides": I feel they often do both the seller and the buyer a disservice. Let's say you have a semi-rare NES game like Mario's Time Machine. Now by the Video Game Bible, that's theoretically worth $15, but what that guide doesn't tell you is that some people have sold it for as little as $2 or as high as $15. If you set the price at $15, some people are going to say, "Ah that's a crappy game it's not worth that much" (and it is crap) and you may not get any buyers. If you set the price at $2, somebody might say, "Hey it's crap but that's a bargain! I'll take it." So if you rely too much on pricing guides, you may find they're only giving you an idea of the MAXIMUM a game is worth, not what it realistically sells for on the open market. I'd say rather than relying strictly on any one pricing guide, you need to factor in guides, marketplaces, game store vendors, and perhaps even eBay in ultimately setting a price point - which in the end is just going to be an "educated guess" anyway. To me the best outcome should be that you can sell a game for double what you paid for it. If you bought it for $1 and can sell it for $2, you had a good day. If you bought it for $2.50 and you can sell it for $5, you had a good day. Unfortunately I think eBay has falsely raised people's hopes (and/or greed) to think they can buy some 50 cent or $1 carts and then get $10 each for the rares from them. 1 out of 1,000,000 might actually pull that off, but the rest are going to boggle at why their $10 game didn't sell because it's "a bargain" compared to the list price. That's why in the end I often think that price guides are bad news. So in summary, my advice to you would be to set what you think is a fair price, and see what happens. If you make double your money back, then you did good. If you make more than that you did REALLY good. If you're too aggressive though, you COULD end up making nothing. In the end I'm sure you'll figure it out though, because I've bought games from you before on eBay and you seem to be a very professional and reputable seller. I'm sure common sense will prevail over greed.
goatdan
I agree with a lot of what MegaManFan said. Personally, as a dealer what I do to price games is look up the closed eBay prices and look for the lowest closing price. I will match it's price or go slightly above it as long as the games are in like condition. Before we had established a good reputation, I would often price games below their associated eBay prices. Now that we are reputable, I usually equal the low end. On a similar note, I agree with what MegaManFan said about the upgradable rarity. Our average profit per item sold can't be more than $1.00 apiece, but once in a while we will get a game for less than a dollar that we can turn around and sell for $5.00 or whatever, but it isn't too common.
