phoenixdownita
I looked at the motherboard on my XEGS and I can't find the C77/C78 capacitors that should be removed to support 127kb/s. I venture that for XEGS that is not required. Anyone can confirm? Also, regarding the 4k7 pullup that is recommended from DataOut to +5V, is that required at all in a XEGS? For those who don't know what I am taking about: http://sio2sd.gucio.pl/wiki/HighSpeed_en In that link it only covers 800XL, 65XE and 130XE. Thanks. I checked the Jerzy Sobola schematics for the XEGS, and while there are no C77/C78 there are inductors L15/L16 that are drawn with a capacitor off a center tap. I have examined these inductors and they do have 3 solder connections, it appears the capacitors are integrated into them.

I really don't think you need to remove those capacitors to achieve full speed on SIO. I always use my SIO2PC at 125,000 bps with AspeQt without any hesitation or hangs during I/O and none of my Ataris have those capacitors removed. So I don't know why this should a requirement for an SIO2SD to function at full speed.
