thecrypticodor
I got it in the mail today and tried it on two of my light sixers and it doesn't work on either of them. However it works on both my four switch and Coleco EM1. Is it the same for anyone else or is it just me? AtariBrian
I usually play on my modded light sixer but didn't intend to open my box until christmas Do you have a 7800 to try it on thecrypticodor ?
themushroom
Anyone try it on a 7800? Yes, works on a 7800. Played that an hour ago.
thecrypticodor
Yes, works on a 7800. Played that an hour ago. Yeah I just tested it on a 7800 and also a JR. Works great on both. It just seems to be the six switchers that have a problem with it.

RevEng
Are you using the same power supply with the 6-switchers, or different? Maybe it's a borderline power thing.
+remowilliams
Well that's weird, it didn't work on my light sixer at all. Then it worked on the 7800 for about 1 minute and refuses to work anymore. Second 7800 (different PS) started, played until the second level then crashed. Now it won't load again. Something's not right...
thecrypticodor
Are you using the same power supply with the 6-switchers, or different? Maybe it's a borderline power thing. I used the same power supply for all the six switches the four as well as the JR. 9V 500mah. I thought that maybe the PCB edge connector isn't making proper contact with the six switchers pin connectors. So I tried starting it while applying pressure up and than down on the cart while I turn the Atari on but that made no difference. Albert
Just wanted to let everyone know that we are investigating the issue. It definitely seems to be affecting six-switch systems the most, but I also have one report of it not working on a 7800 (although it's not a stock 7800, so I'm not sure if that plays anything into that particular case). Interestingly, it doesn't seem to affect the Harmony Cart, which is virtually identical to the Melody board (it's basically a Melody with a USB controller and SD card slot). A wide variety of people tested the game using the Harmony Cart on various hardware over the last several years, and of course this never came up. This goes even more so for the public demo that was released. And the Melody board has been absolutely rock solid since its several years ago, so this behavior is certainly unexpected. It does appear to be a software issue, though. Because the game is using the Melody board, I will be able to reprogram carts without having to open them up, but it will require people to send the carts to me. I'll post here again once I have more solid information, and hopefully a fix. Given how close we are to Christmas, it's likely we won't have a fix until after then. ..Al
+wood_jl
Shit. I bet on the 6-switchers and gave away my 4-switch.

+KaeruYojimbo
So I guess my options for now are go dig the junior out of storage so I can play Stay Frosty or get some things done that I really should get done. Hmmm. Hmmmm. Hang on, still thinking.....

iesposta
Neither this or the Byte before Christmas are working on my S-video modded 6 switch.Byte Before Christmas froze a few times on a Heavy Sixer right at the start, but the third time, pulling the cart a slight bit towards me, it worked 100%, Stay Frosty 2 on same machine 0%. The above 2 plus Astro Blaster all work on my "evil" 7800 (that fails with Beef Drop & Scramble and kills dead the 7800 Dev Cart).
atariedsel
I tried three of my 6 switch systems dont work at all. only works on my 4 swtich, JR 2600, and 7800. I thought at first my 6 switch wasnt working right but I tried another game and worked fine. I can live with that if I wanna play that game just use a different system.

Master Phruby
Stay frosty 2 works great on my modded 7800. We've been playing it all day. Great job guys! Astroblaster works perfectly too. I love the speech on the title screen. I didn't expect that.
Albert
Astroblaster works perfectly too. I love the speech on the title screen. I didn't expect that. Neither was I the first time I tried the game on real hardware. I was pleasantly surprised, having played the game in arcades in the 80s. ..Al
