Mr. Turtle

Cool.

It still needs a few adjustments but it'll probably look pretty much as it now does now.

I may add a bird flying down towards him in place of the plays like an arcade game text which obviously hasn't been adjusted as it disappears into the white of the cloud. Probably change the screen shots on the back when it's finanalized. Only thing I'm not sure about is putting "COLECO " logo on the box. I might have to leave that off as I don't want to step on any toes.

^ LOVE IT!

Love the box design/artwork and Mr. Turtle's Superman pose.

Nice box! :D

there is already 25 screens , I'm currently optimizing the code and fixing glitches and then i'll add a few more variety of rooms when I know how much room I have left. there is a different skill & hazard you'll need for these rooms.

short answer is I expect to have at least 50 screens and up to 100

really nice box ! love the turtle standing ^^

Regarding the game, how many screens are managed in it ?

This box design is just sooo cute. I love it and I can't wait to play this game. Another great release from you

1 box every once in a while ... you must have designed near 100 by now. I have many of them on my shelf including 1 in the mail later this month.

I used to take a sketchbook into the arcade back in the 80's and draw some of the pictures off the cabinets. I only had so many quarters.

Very nice box.

Interesting, as I thought I was the only one who ever noticed the sides of the cabs. I am a big fan of arcade cabinet art (as well as the advertising materials which marketed these games). Even have some of the technical manuals for some early Atari games because they had variants of the cabinet art of the covers.

As for the game: I am very excited by this and can't wait to get a copy. Between this and the Tron Lightcycle game, this is a great time to own a Colecovision.

Mark Thomann was pretty great in granting me license to use the logo. I cannot speak on his behalf of course, but if you earnestly feel like this is an issue, I'd recommend simply dropping him an email to request use of the likeness of the logo. My personal outlook would be, that if you're promoting his IP for a small gang of enthusiasts, he may just say "ok"! You might also make it clear that you're not doing this for profit or expansion of the/your business, but rather to pay homage to an antiquated brand (or something like that). 8)

Contact info can be found on the Coleco website http://coleco.vision.

I made a prototype box today. I think after looking it over I might add the for colecovision & adam strip onto the front cover again. I don't want to use the actual coleco logo though.

Just a point about this... The "Mr. Turtle" property and logo are already technically part of Coleco Holdings. They released plastic kiddie pools with this branding. So using "Mr. Turtle" but not using "Coleco" as logos is six of one and half a dozen of the other.

Totally awesome box and I can't wait to play it!

I know what you're saying. The copywrite for Mr Turtle was discontinued in 1993 according to something I found on the internet. And as far as I'm concerned coleco doesn't exist anymore. Coleco is deinately a name that you can copywrite though but "Mr" or "Turtle" not so much so. I'm not real concerned as I think I'd be well down the list if any copywrite holders come around headhunting but I'd prefer to avoid trouble if possible.

The Coleco Trademark on the kiddie pool was abandoned/canceled,

...not the same as Copyright.

Someone has registered it again,

but not for video games

Interesting. I feel trademarks & copywrite though is going to go away in the future. I mean china ignores it altogether.

Canada and other countries have different expiry dates on stuff than the USA.

Popeye & Buddy Holly are public domain in Canada. Mickey mouse is actually well past being public domain but they have so much money and lobbying that they got a 20 year reprieve.

Anyways it probably doesn't matter . I print the boxes 1 at a time. I could always change it up anytime I need to. I could even print a different serial # for each box.

Again, trademarks and copyright are not the same thing. Trademarks are infinitely extendable. Most of the Tarzan books by Edgar Rice Burroughs are public domain but "Tarzan" is a registered Trademark still maintained by ERB Inc. You can't make a video game, book or movie and use "Tarzan" in the title without a legal agreement. Same with Cocoa-Cola. It been around a long time, but is protected by trademark law.

I agree that a lot of countries ignore either Copyright or Trademarks, but I doubt any of us would sell 250 copies of a new ColecoVision game there...

Showing some update scenes & a couple of new scenes. Still not showing all secrets. Rom is blocked 32Kb solid now. So i'm done other than a little testing. No room for anything else.

Game is Hard! I'll have some younger people test it on real hardware on friday to see how they do. I'm a gamer so I made it interesting. It can be won and I can do it. But can you?

I may make an easy option with less enemies & rooms. That would be the only thing left to add.
