rocky1138
Hi all, Over the last few years of dipping my feet into the Jaguar development environment, I've amassed a large number of files and folders. Does anyone have any idea where some of these are from and what the license is on them? I'd like to be able to get them into a github repo so that other developers can use them (if I'm allowed, of course). Here are a few samples of the kinds of things I've got: 3DS2JAG JAG.ZOO - First edition Jaguar development tools (mentions a person named 'John' in the README) 8 bit object example from Lars Hannig American Hero BJL Bidirectional Debug Kit BJL Uploader Breakout 2000 sources Butch ASIC (what is ASIC?) CatBox Chaos Agenda Checkered Flag sources Colors Example Cortina Crescent Galaxy Cybermorph DOSStick Dr.Typo Flare Technology Files The list goes on. Can anyone help with what I've got so far? I've attached a screenshot of my folder layout. Thank-you.
Zerosquare
All of following are files that have been released by Curt Vendel some time ago (they're either from the Jaguar's SDK or some internal Atari stuff, including source code from some Jag games): 1st edition Jag dev Tools AmericanHero Breakout2000sources Butch ASIC Chaos Agenda Cortina Crescent Galaxy Cybermorph - sources Checkered Flag Rev9 Sources 10-18-94 FlareTechnologyFiles Gamefilm J Mathieson - HW SW Desc Jag - PC Dev SW 1994 Jag Code Sample Jag Console Drawings Jag Controller Dwgs Jag Dev 5 Jag Mpeg Decoder PCB Jag Synth 5-26-93 Jag tool 4-22-94 Jag Util Sources JagCDfiles JagConsoleDrawings Jagdevtools jagfiles-1 jagfiles-10 jagfiles-11 jagfiles-12 jagfiles-2 jagfiles-3 jagfiles-4 jagfiles-5 jagfiles-6 jagfiles-7 jagfiles-8 jagfiles-9 Jaguar Jaz Tools JazTools Jim Elliots disk Misc Jag files Mouse Driver for Jag Panther Pantherfiles Qsound Tempest2KSources1-26-94 TGA to CRY and Sources VMLabsTools1995 The rest appears to be a collection of programs from various homebrew authors. Most (if not all) of this stuff doesn't really have a proper license but has been freely available for years. rocky1138
@ZeroSquare OK Great. I've pinged Mr. Vendel on the forums, here. With any luck it'll hit his email (or he checks this forum's IM feature regularly) and he'll respond. Does anyone else recognize the other folders and can put me in touch with the people responsible? Would anyone happen to have that file anymore? All i can find online is the extracted text from it.
rocky1138
What about the license for assets in Jaguar games, e.g., the music from Tempest 2000? Were they also included in the release to public domain? Edited January 30, 2015 by rocky1138
sh3-rg
What about the license for assets in Jaguar games, e.g., the music from Tempest 2000? Were they also included in the release to public domain? They said they gave up any rights regarding the "vintage" hardware platform and would not hinder the efforts of developers. They didn't transfer any of their claims over IP they themselves created or licensed.

That said, whoever did Typhoon on the PC included the Tempest modules and I don't think anything happened.
LinkoVitch
Could I ask that you don't put the U235 Sound Engine on github, thanks. By all means a handy reference to the website (www.u-235.co.uk) would be nice. But I'd rather not have it downloaded from loads of different places. Thanks
Curt Vendel
I know I have the original Hasbro Jaguar release. They mailed me a hardcopy. I will check my office tomorrow and post.
