Finally nabbed an Odyssey 1 Run 1 with the ‘Test Container’ designation.   Outer box is quite rough, but the inner box is fine.  Got a great deal on this one.

I should have bought some Odyssey (1) stuff 25 years ago, it is so expensive now.

Whoa! That's awesome. Hope you got a good deal, looks expensive.

So expensive that he can't afford to go to Taco Bell now.

TL;DR - Bought controllers! Woo!

I needed some controllers so we could play Gamecube and N64 4-player games since I think I now have more people to play games with besides myself!! (Long story below if anyone cares. ;) ) Picked up 2 GC knockoff controllers from Amazon and 2 knockoff N64 controllers from eBay. All have good ratings considering they're not $50 each OEM controllers yada yada. Have to let you know how they work once they get here! I can't remember the last time I was THIS excited about the hobby! Get to share it again. :)

Boring backstory - So 3 weeks ago on Friday my son came by with the wife and grand kids. We're talking and I casually mentioned I finally consider the basement "finished for now". He stayed with me about 5-6 years ago for a few months and the basement was where he stayed and was "his space". He looks at me all confused and says to me "It was always a finished basement." Anyway we go back and forth a little and we both realize I never showed him what I turned the basement into last fall. We go down and I show them what it looks like and all the fun stuff down there. The kids are 12, 8 and 3 so they're in heaven. We spent 3 hours down there just playing games and reminiscing about the gaming apartment I had back in 1999-ish (see below) and how much we miss that time in our lives and how much fun it was for him to grow up with that etc etc etc. We now have a standing "date" night on Friday nights for family gaming. It'll be primarily video games but I still have an extensive board game collection as well.

*** Back in the PhillyClassic days I had a gaming apartment above my normal apartment since my mother did not want to rent it to anyone else. She hated being a landlord and dealing with people but she inherited my grandmother's home and didn't want to sell it. I rented the downstairs and paid a little extra plus heat and electric and set up a whole apartment upstairs dedicated to gaming. Since it was an actual apartment it had a full bath and a fully applianced kitchen too so almost every weekend my best friends would just stay over. My ex-wife initially hated the place but that didn't last long once she realized it was, in fact, OUR party place and not just mine. She had her friends over as well and it was amazing for everyone. *sigh* Such a simpler time in my life. :)Man I miss that place.

(After reading this I realize I need to drop this into my collection post. Turned into a nostalgia trip I didn't expect. I just wish I still had even one picture of the place. The Wayback Machine has the old website itself but sadly all the pics are gone.)

Part of the problem with the Hori style N64 controller is the analog stick. The real test would be how it handles Mario 64 and being able to walk slowly. This is the main reason I don't like the Switch version of the game.

I have the Retro-Bit one, and it does have the same joystick as the original Hori, but I haven't had too many issues with it in things like platformers.
I did have to switch to another controller for that part near the end of Majora's Mask (where you have to keep switching masks and quickly zoom along these narrow platforms), but otherwise the only other games I've had issues with them in are FPS.
I finished DK64 with it no problem, and I'm probably about 60% through SM64 so far.

I just wish there was some kind of option to make L/R/Z feel a little more natural.

Nice! I am waiting for Caramujo to be officially released in the AA store with a manual and box.

I don't think I will ever get the GORF patches due to arthritis hand pain.

This just in...don't get old ,it is not glamourous at all.

How much did you have to pay for Super Darius? Also those controllers not having turbo switches is bleh.

Quite the steel/steal, both of them...

I look at ebay every now and again for local CRT tv's. Still no luck.

Mine showed up a couple of days ago. Kevin wanted to use a bunch of my boxes for pics but I wasn't comfortable shipping a portion of my collection across country and back for pictures. At one point they talked about flying out and just having me bring them to a hotel for pics which I was fine with, but I guess they figured out another source to use. I am excited to crack mine open and check it out. I got the dust cover version. I hope he can complete the series with the same quality unlike a few others have tried to do the same thing but they fell short or didn't finish at all.

It would have been pretty cool to have your collection captured in the book.

Here’s a recent purchase I just got in the mail. Over a year ago I ran across a kickstarter for a written history of text adventures.  Being a long time fan of this genre I chose to help fund it.  It grew in development adding additional fun items over the year and here is the result.  Absolutely love the work put into this.  It’s going to be a fascinating read.  Funding the top level added the additional items

3.5 Floppy disc with the book contents and secret game
2 poster sized maps of text adventures
Replica cassette tape of 2 early adventure games
Length of computer punch tape
