EricBall
Does anyone know how holey DMA mixes with indirect sprites? Do both the character map and the character sprites have to be on even blocks, or can either be on an odd block?
Eckhard Stolberg
IIRC only the actual graphic data reads are affected by holey DMA. So you should be able to put the character map anywhere you want, but the character graphics have to be on even blocks to be visible. We'd have to try it out to be sure though. If you want to write a little test program for this, I can try it on my 7800 for you. Ciao, Eckhard Stolberg
EricBall
A test program confirmed Eckhard's memory, only the graphics data is affected by holey DMA, not the character map. (This is effect is also shown in the V7800 and MESS emulators.)
