Someone asked nicely...

A whole forum was devoted to like minded people. Thankfully, it disappeared up it's own arse. Ironically, despite taking such a stance it also sold these items it so strongly believed should be defended in it's own store. Several attempts have been made to resurrect it. The problem being, the kinds of people who are like minded are also assholes who argue, even with other like minded people. The current iteration sees about 3 posts a week, mostly from the admin, asking questions that nobody else there can read, let alone answer, or links to stuff happening in the Jaguar world, which ironically, all point to AtariAge.....

Feel free to join that and ask, or better yet, make your own forum for nobody to post in ;)

PS. Star Raiders is already ported.

Hopefully done now ;)

  • Most important first - removed the iPhone icon and swapped for the Android icon (function over style)
  • Added the Arcade title music (The ST title music is actually level 7!)
  • Fixed the music bug
  • Sold my laptop to myself on ebay and copied the ROM from it, which is how you acquire copyright in the Jaguar/Lynx world

The added AA logo is a nice touch, (also is the R-type "head logo")

Played R-type this morning on the ST for a short comparison.

The ST version is hampered by the fact that you have to press the spacebar to release or retract the force, imo.

This Jaguar version makes the game much more playable AND enjoyable.

Thanks CyranoJ!

Thanks a lot for this! Ironically, I've been playing the hell outta the R-Type variations on MAME, SNES and OUYA the last few weeks. Have never played the ST version and trying to load it up in Atabee on my OUYA was an epic fail. Looking forward to getting this on a Skunkboard and maybe flashing it to a Rev 1, sealing it up in an old Cybermorph case and keeping it as a standalone for good.

Just tried the last CD version (Winners_dont_...) on my JagCD. This version has a really nice color palette and music. I'm most familiar with the Sega Master System version which is also it's own thing compared to other versions. I'd love to play this on a cartridge! Great job on this CJ!
