+Random Terrain
At the end of the day, I'd like to know more about Joystiq. Is it a web site at the end of the day or a YouTube channel at the end of the day?
DaytonaUSA
It's a website...called joystiq.com I'm really sad that it's closing its doors. It was one of the last honest professional review sites out there.
Rex Dart
Is there a companion article to go with this video of some guy yapping for fifteen minutes straight? I can read.
DaytonaUSA
Is there a companion article to go with this video of some guy yapping for fifteen minutes straight? I can read. That guy is me, and I'm not yapping off. But thanks for the input! I'll be sure to not talk on my channel. Maybe the next video will be "Darryl Staring at You....." If you want an article, obviously Joystiq.com will have it, as they've been talking about their closure all day. BDW
Stopped being a fan of review sites years ago. Can Kotaku or IGN be next? Is there a companion article to go with this video of some guy yapping for fifteen minutes straight? I can read. Top Kek
moycon
Count me in as someone who will miss Joystiq. While I wasn't any type of regular visitor, they did come up in search engines and my video game news feeds often and I never had a problem with the information they provided.

HammR25
Is there a companion article to go with this video of some guy yapping for fifteen minutes straight? I can read. I just googled it instead of clicking the video.
Reaperman
(link) I'd heard of them, but didn't really know what they were until I went there just now--maybe it's a cheesy publicity grab. On one hand, I don't see anything there worth a second visit, but on the other hand, the link says they're an AOL property, and IMO AOL has *a lot* of other garbage news sites that they need to get rid of first. I pity anybody clicking through the news aggregator on aol's main page. At least joystiq seems to know how to write a headline that isn't pure clickbait. That's more than most of them. Rex Dart
I just googled it instead of clicking the video. Yup, I wound up doing the same. It's a shame if they do shut down... why couldn't it happen to Kotaku instead?
cncfreak
Ahh cool I subbed. Kinda sad. They are one of my daily news feeds I use on twitter. Edited January 28, 2015 by cncfreak
Breakpack
Yes I am a regular visitor to joystiq. Sucks that it's confirmed. 1up.com used to be my regular gaming site until it closed a few years back and I switched to Joystiq. Gonna miss it.

Austin
Yup, I wound up doing the same. It's a shame if they do shut down... why couldn't it happen to Kotaku instead? Because Kotaku is likely a profitable venture, given its popularity.
Jess Ragan
Shit sells, folks. It's why we still have Kotaku and Polygon but Joystiq is closing up shop.
DaytonaUSA
Exactly, and it's what I discussed in the video. Joystiq didn't really go for click bait, unlike the others out there. I think that was their downfall. They were the last place I could go to and just get straight up, unbiased news. Thanks to those who subbed. I really don't understand what was wrong with my video, as I just rewatched it, and I literally said everything that was written in the original article by the 1:00 mark, which is about as fast as it would have been to read it.... The rest were simply my thoughts, and frankly, a bit of emotion. The people at Joystiq are really good people, and I've worked with a couple in the past (of the group that are no longer writing for them). The video was more about the dangers of where our gaming news industry is headed, and what kind of companies we ARE supporting vs which ones they SHOULD. It's a real shame the place had to go away. I can think of a dozen more than should have in its place.... Edited January 29, 2015 by DaytonaUSA
Metal Ghost
Has this even been confirmed yet? Everything I've seen so far is still referencing back to the speculative Recode article.

+wongojack
giantbomb.com is a pretty good site for what seems like more neutral content. I only mention that because I didn't hear you talk about it in your video. You should check it out.
Lord Helmet
Looks like some of the team from Joystiq is teaming up with Engadget: http://www.engadget.com/2015/02/03/joystiq-x-engadget/?utm_source=Feed_Classic_Full&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Engadget&?ncid=rss_full
