Crazy Climber
I'm not even sure I'll buy one of these consoles, but I'm strangely fascinated. RVGS made an announcement on Facebook: In response to someone's saying they prefer a clear console, he replied that "They are coming. " Pictures of the very bright two-tone red, green, blue and yellow consoles can be found via the Facebook post. Here's the red one: I think you guys are being a little hard on this. It doesn't look bad at all. I like it
swapd0
I like the shape but not the colors.
AtariNerd
The rounded puck shape of the case, with the fins, raised roundel in the middle and the yellow color, just feels sooo much like Pac-Man to me. I think it reminds me a bit of one of the hand-held games. The ultimate for me, would be orange, because it was one of Atari's official colors and also used in PONG-related promotional materials. I think one of the modders here, did a mock-up of an orange-sherbet Jag, with the white swooping stripes along the sides, that I thought looked pretty spiffy. But black, white always look slick, as well.
JagCD
I'll probably buy one -- just for the collection. I seriously doubt it will get much software support. Although I said the same about the Ouya -- and that system ending up getting a lot more games than I expected (although at the expense of quality control IMO). As some print articles have stated, retro formats do seem to be en vogue. I saw people asking for vinyl at a Best Buy recently.... And nearly 10 million new albums on vinyl sold last year alone. That's 20 times the amount sold in 1993. Whether that translates to sales success for the RVGS is unknown.... A lot depends on the price IMO. Yeah, people seem to move back to retro in a mass-movement. It could "work"/survive, why not. Back to reality (physical objects). +madman
Some of the FB comments are hilarious. I wonder how many more limited edition colors there will be before they say anything about the hardware.

Keatah
..and concept renderings at that. You know.. There is such a thing as announcing a product too early. The hype and expectations build and when the product IS released it underwhelms. It never lives up to the stuff you created in your head. Anyways we have no idea what the hardware is going to be like, nor the games. Nothing to ground us in reality. The one big positive about this whole gig is that no internet connection is required. Except for buying the games.

PlaysWithWolves
They have an actual webpage now, with FAQ, instead of redirecting to Facebook: http://www.retrovgs.com/
bender3455
That FAQ is a little ambiguous, but it seems like they're suggesting that they're going to do hardware emulation based on the games requirements. They do state which cores for systems are available, but do not mention if the cores are going to be part of the system. It may be a little early to say, as they may still be negotiating, so I won't be hyper critical about that. Of the cores listed, there's only 3 that I see that would be relevant to my group of friends: NES, Genesis, and Turbo Graphx. If SNES and Neo Geo were added to the mix, I think that would help tremendously, but we still don't know what actual games would come out either. I'm still interested, but not seeing the kind of info I was hoping to see by now. Color choices are a fun touch, but that should be near the bottom of the list. Do we even know what controllers are going to look like yet? Do indie developers know how to write code for it yet? THey'll need to know ahead of time as not to become another Windows Vista fiasco. But like I say, I'm still interested and definitely love talking about it.

PlaysWithWolves
As an aside: In a recent podcast interview, Mike Kennedy mentioned that the translucent sales covered the cost of the molds, the transport and set-up -- about US$10,000. I'm sure this is all subject to change, but in that same interview: He also mentioned the console may be more costly than the $150-200 range, though details aren't ironed out yet. He admitted that $99 was his initial hope (with lesser inside hardware) but that they have expanded what they want from the machine. It sounds like they hope this product will have a long life; e.g., it won't have the typical lifespan of a console but could have new games made for years. Still no hardware details beyond that the FPGA chip costs about $50 no matter how many units they buy. Apparently a goal is for almost any USB controller can be used, though they'll still have their own. All the fancy Kickstarter colors will cost an extra US$50. He spoke briefly of Konami and that Konami asked for a list of games RVGS would be interested in. It's not moved on any farther, but he'd like to see companies revisit old IP that hasn't been used for years. Carts will be keyed differently than the Jag so each won't fit in the wrong console. It is also likely they will be made on-demand rather than have stockpiles. If I understood correctly, some games will also be included in the Kickstarter campaign as separate add-ons. I'm a little fuzzy on that part. Edited June 1, 2015 by PlaysWithWolves
PlaysWithWolves
Also, I was trying to remember Kennedy's username (my memory is awful these days) and ran across a fairly new Kickstarter campaign he and some (all?) of the team started: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/238544-next-generation-intellivision-classics-for-pc-mac-kickstarter/

I'm a little fuzzy on that part. I see potential interest in this waning with news of each price hike. I understand people gotta eat, but if it launches much higher than $200, they will be pricing themselves out of the market. Also food for though, if the shiny KS-exclusive colors cannot be done at base cost, they should rethink their strategy. Limited Edition Nintendo consoles don't cost extra for fancy colors, just saying... Edited June 2, 2015 by stardust4ever

Andromeda Stardust
watch your tongue, north corean shadow assassins are about! North Korea is full of idol threats. I welcome them to come here and try something. When uncle Sam is done with them... Then again, it could easily escalate. NK is close allies with China and Russia. Best not to start WWIII! I can see it now: United States, UK, European Union, Austrailia, and South Korea versus China, Russia, North Korea, and possibly the Middle East. That would not be pretty... And to think it all started with a few random forum posts on the internet!
