tacrec Posted June 8, 2015 Author Share Posted June 8, 2015 Both teams' pitchers gave up a lot of hits early, but the defenses for both teams held up and the game was scoreless until the 15th when the Mutants pitcher gave up several hits to give the Snakes a 1-0 win. tacrec Posted June 9, 2015 Author Share Posted June 9, 2015 A string of Bombers hits and poor Armada defense led to a run in the 3rd, but then the Armada broke through the Bombers defense in the 8th to tie it, then again in the 12th to win 2-1. Beamriders had many chances to score, and the Smash defense kept shutting them down until the 8th when the Beamriders tied it. Beamriders almost took the lead in the 10th but was shut down with a double play. Smash won it by 2-1 in the bottom of the 10th on a series of hits. For the Battle Network, it's simple: one last game between the Bombers and the Spartans to decide the network champion. The Armada could still tie for first place with a win next week, but the Spartans hold the tie breaker. The Action Network is more complicated:Beamriders and Snakes both win or both lose: Beamriders should be network champions with the tie breaker.Beamriders win and Snakes lose: Beamriders are network champions.Beamriders lose and Snakes win: Snakes are network champions. I know I'm the "commish" and I'm supposed to be impartial, but I really don't want the Bombers being champions on another stupid one run game. They've been winning like that all year, while the Spartans play with a lot of heart and have much better offense. I'd also like the Snakes to go "worst to first"! We'll see how it all plays out. tacrec Posted June 17, 2015 Author Share Posted June 17, 2015 (edited) The Beamriders rested their starters today, which proved costly as the starting pitcher gave up four runs. The big guns came in later in the game and tied it 4-4 in the 7th, then got a walk off single to win 5-4 in the 10th. Ironically, the Spartans have the better offense, while the Bombers pitching and defense have only allowed an average of just over one run per game this season. The Spartans pitching and defense have had problems this year, so they will need to be at its best today. Spartans will wear their red uniforms again today. Ding, ding, ding....let's get it on!!! Spartans had a few chances to score, but the Bombers strong defense kept stopping them a few feet from the plate. Last season, the Beamriders were a pitching powerhouse allowing an average of less than one run per game. This season, their offense has really taken over, scoring the most runs of any team this season. The Bombers, while physically intimidating, have not been crushing the ball as expected the past two seasons. It has been their pitching and defense that have kept them in first place, and have taken them to the championship series this season. So it comes down to an explosive offense against a defense like an army tank. The Beamriders pitching and defense have had issues this season, while the lack of Bombers offense could be problematic. Both teams stayed strong until the Bombers got some big hits in the 13th to score their winning run.
