Oxmyx
Hi all, Seeking some advice regarding fixing (either) of my 3DO's. I bought my FZ10 about a year ago; it worked like a dream until my motor died suddenly after I was 20 hours into a game of Star Control 2. I bought an FZ1 two months ago, and it worked perfectly until I decided to play Star Control 2 again, at which point the laser started to die. I can play for about 45 minutes until the audio starts skipping like crazy, afterwards it's only a matter of time before the game either freezes or the system resets itself. I thought the console might be dirty, but it seems to have been cleaned out before I bought it, and trying to clean the laser lens didn't make much of a difference. So I've heard that many of the components in either of the Panasonic model 3DOs are interchangable, I was wondering if you guys would recommend I swap motors or the laser assembly? Which option is most easily accomplished, and what would realistically hold up longer? Any advice short of buying yet another console would be greatly appreciated! Rick Dangerous
I have never had a 3DO break on me...Have owned two FZ1's for 10+ years. Makes me want to avoid Star Control II based on you post though.... Local electronics hospital should be able to fix anything CD drive related..
