+atari2600land
So I haven't played Mario Kart 8 in a while, so I put it in. It took about 10 minutes to update it, but when I finally got to it, I keep noticing Mario games having Amiibo stuff, even though it was released prior to that stuff coming out. I also saw it was version 3.0, which is weird because I bought it close to launch day. Anyway, the point of the thread is this: When I first started playing Mario Kart 8, I noticed that when you finished a race, the option "View Highlights" was first. This bugged me. But now when I play it, the first option is "Next Race." So Nintendo apparently has the power to fix bugs in games we bought a long time ago? So how does that work? Overriding what the CD says to do? I'm so confused...
cimerians
Nintendo has finally entered modern gaming and with it comes updates/fixes or improvements by what they call patches. Games are not run completely off of CD's anymore...way too slow.... lots of information can be stored in memory (which includes storage like a hard drive). This gives developers a chance to fix or change a game to some degree. In this case "Next Race" wasn't a bug but obviously something most people found annoying that it wasn't listed first and they changed it.
