ROMOX.... Back in the day, you had these carts that could plug into a large machine that held the code for multiple games. You'd plug in your cart, select the game you wanted, and the machine would re-flash your EPROM for you (or whatever the equivalent was at the time)....

Does anyone know of any of these programmers left in existence? How did they work exactly, and how many of us own the ECPC cartridges?

I only know of one of the programmers that is rumored to be around--Kyle Crichton may have it. He had a lot of odd bits from ROMOX, and I think he mentioned having one of the programmers to me once.

 

I have a few of the programmable ECPC cartridges, and a lot of the preprogrammed cartridges sold using the same type of cartridge case (the ROMOX and Navarone cartridges released in that format). I've probably got 20-30 cartridges of that type in all (some are doubles).
