Chris++
Yay! New episode! Incidentally, per your (Sean's) request of listeners, I've been trying to come up with suggestions for a slick podcasting nickname that befits your sultry, video-games-after-dark FM radio DJ voice -- that comforting yet alluring baritone that has seen me, Alan Freed-like, through my youth...or at least the past two months. In this respect, I'm sure I'm just a drop in the bucket, a lone individual in a sea of listeners all clamoring for a chance at nicknaming a Pie Factory host. That's just as well, as all I've been able to squeeze from the ol' synapses have been: S. Court (pronounced "Escort," you see?) Sean-O / Sean-O C. S.C. Caster Mort from Court Pam Dauber Randy Scouse (crickets)
Inky
Sean-O / Sean-O C. I think we have a winner!
Dauber
Randy Scouse = "Horny Liverpudlian." I've never been to Liverpool.
Chris++
Yeah, I didn't think you'd go for that one.

Chris++
Jim's excellent new slogan for the Twenty-First Century: "Tune in, turn on, drop out, SHUT UP!" Laughed my head off.
Inky
Jim's excellent new slogan for the Twenty-First Century: "Tune in, turn on, drop out, SHUT UP!" Laughed my head off. I actually ripped that off of George Carlin
Dauber
After a brief hiatus, Pie Factory Podcast is back with Episode 7: Pac-Land and The Real Ghostbusters. We're sorry to have to tell you this. Edited June 29, 2015 by Dauber
RJ
NAMCO Anniversary (PS2/XB(?)/GC(?)) has the best Ms Pac-Man home version I've seen, & it has the "knock" sound when the ghosts bump in the 1st intermission. It's my go-to version for my Ms Pac-Man needs.
RJ
re: arcade Mario Bros- creatures DO NOT speed up upon completing a circuit through the game board (entering a bottom pipe & coming out the top). They DO speed up if they recover on their own, before you get to them. As for the POW switch/button/block- if I remember right I read somewhere it regenerates after every 10 phases (yes, it's PHASES).
SoulBlazer
I can't download the newest episode from your website. It seems to download OK but when I try to play it I get 'Playback Error',
Dauber
Eep...I just tried it and got a "file is corrupt" error. Thanks for the heads-up. Will correct ASAP.
Chris++
How odd. It plays just fine for me. Maybe it depends on the type of player...?
SoulBlazer
Eep...I just tried it and got a "file is corrupt" error. Thanks for the heads-up. Will correct ASAP. Thanks! I caught up on your podcast this last week and really am liking it...it was a little shaky, IMHO, the first few episodes but you guys have gotten into a nice groove recently. But then again, you could say that about my podcast. And yeah, Chris, when I downloaded it on my PC it played fine. But I wanted it for my phone so I could listen to it at work. RJ
Coin phase/bonus round- difficulty increases 2nd time, floors are icy & you have 5 seconds LESS to finish. 3rd time (phase 15) floors are icy AND turn invisible. & you didnt mention the last "enemy"- water drops that freeze into falling icicles (phase 16)...guessing you didnt get that far? HAAAAAAAA HA HA HA HAAAAA HAAAAAAAAA!!!!! *deep inhale* BWAAAAAAAAAAAH HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HAAAAA!!!! In other words, ummm....no. Neither of us got that far.

They DO speed up if they recover on their own, before you get to them. CURSES!!!! Okay, Inky swore up and down that what you said is exactly right. I swore up and down that no, it's when they wrap around. I had just played an actual machine for a while. I slipped Hyde a $5 to cut that part out. Just tried in MAME, and....yup, Inky was right. I AM finding that the enemies DO speed up after a certain amount of time passes...maybe that's where my confusion came in. Unfortunately, this all came about AFTER we recorded episode 9, so errata will be in episode 10.
Chris++
I found your pairing of these games to be especially astute, as I assumed that you'd heard or read (as I had) that Shigeru Miyamoto's manager, Gunpei Yokoi, wanted him to create a game similar to Joust. http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/120901/Analysis_From_Donkey_Kong_To_Super_Mario_Bros__The_Inexorable_Rise_Of_Miyamoto.php Anyway, note that Mario's skidding was another element taken from Joust. Great episode. Take off, eh!
RJ
Mario Bros is my 2nd fave arcade game, 30 yrs ago I spent a family vacation +/- mastering it w/ my cousin. Note the actual controls are also similar to Joust, a L/R joystick & single action (jump or flap) button. Cant wait for the Xevious episode! It's been my favorite arcade game for 30+ yrs, & you'll see below in my sig I own one! It was down w/ a common ROM chip problem for months, but it got back on its feet (OK, levelers on the front & rollers on the back) just this past week with help from AA member madaracs. I'm quite familiar with the game inside & out, so I hope you "hosers" do your homework on it.

Chris++
"Dear Xevious" by the Namco Beatles is one of the greatest things I've ever heard. That Hyde St. Pierre is some kind of wizard, I tell you.
SoulBlazer
Xevious was released on the NES also, and I prefer that version just slightly over the 7800 port. In any case it's a great game. Lost Tomb was covered on No Quarter way back, and they also commented on the weird feature of buying more whips. I don't mind that, but then again, I play modern games as well as retro ones. Inky
I forgot about the NES version of Xevious. There was also a Super Xevious on the NES, but I am not sure if it was only on the Playchoice10 cabinet.

S1500
I tried playing Solvalou on MAME last night, but it crashes. Darn.
